Newegg Customer Service Is The Best!

EVGA GeForce GTX 260 896MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Graphics Card 896-P3-1260-AR
EVGA GeForce GTX 260 896MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Graphics Card 896-P3-1260-AR

Pros: First the card, What can I say that hasn't already been said about this card. Yes its big but you get big performance from it. I didn't bother overclocking since it runs LOTRO at 1600x1200 with 8x AA at 62FPS consistently. Second, Newegg customer service is the best. I had the same $40 rebate snafu that others have reported. When you type in the offer code into the worldwiderebates.com web site, the purchase dates on the form are only valid from 11/1 to 11/4 not 11/1 to 11/30 as listed. I called wwrebates and guess what?, no answer, *click*. I opened a chat window to Newegg customer service and Jeffrey promptly refunded $40 to my credit card. It took less than 5 minutes. No wonder I've been a Newegg customer since last century!

Cons: worldwiderebates. 'nuff said.

Overall Review: The card fits nicely in an Antec 900 case but does block two of the drive bays in the upper drive mounting. If you want to install more than 4 drives you'll need a different case. 50C idle, 65C loaded.

Monitor Died!

Hanns·G HG-281DPB Black 28" 3ms Widescreen LCD HDMI Monitor 500 cd/m2 800:1 Built-in Speakers
Hanns·G HG-281DPB Black 28" 3ms Widescreen LCD HDMI Monitor 500 cd/m2 800:1 Built-in Speakers

Pros: Great picture for games. No ghosting. Sturdy stand and construction. Other reviews seem accurate about the brightness and color properties. If you think its too big, its not. You get used to the size quickly and all other monitors seem small in comparison.

Cons: It had one stuck pixel, bright blue, unfortunately. After three days of use the picture simply faded to white with multicolored vertical lines right in the middle of a game. At least it stayed dead and didn't have intermittent problems.

Overall Review: The RMA procedure was somewhat of a hassle. Notice that there is NO REFUND on this monitor, only replacement within 30 days. Newegg requires a reference number from Hanns-G so you have to call Hanns-G and submit the serial number before Newegg will process the RMA. I did get a Hanns-G tech within a minute and he processed the serial number quickly. Neither Hanns-G nor Newegg will cross ship While Newegg does pay for return shipping, its only ground so I have to wait at least a week for them to get it back. Newegg will send the replacement 2nd day which is nice. Such is life. Both Newegg and Hanns-G have professional, responsive tech support. I just want my monitor since my 20" now looks so puny. Maybe my replacement won't have any stuck pixels :)

Don't Bother

POWMAX Assassin PSAS-BL 500 W ATX12V Power Supply
POWMAX Assassin PSAS-BL 500 W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: Newegg Rocks!

Cons: Simply not enough power to run today's motherboards and video cards. My first one simply burned out after three months and my second one is failing after one week.

Overall Review: Unfortunately, I ordered my second one for another computer before the first one died. The first one lasted about three months. The second one has that burning epoxy smell after one week. Its still working but not for long.

Works in IBM T-23 with Modifications

Pros: I bought this drive to replace my stock DVD reader/CD burner which would not read burned DVD's. The drive works as well as you would expect for a laptop drive and it has no problems burning CD, DVD-R (16X new Office Depot media) and DVD+R (2X older +R media). I haven't tried it on RW. The original power/data plug converter and side rails must be removed from the original drive and mounted on the new drive. I had to file off some small posts molded into the drive rails but the screw hole lined up perfectly.

Cons: The front bezel of the new drive had to be modified to fit in the T-23. The release mechanism that removes the drive from the bay conflicts with the bezel. Approximately 1/2" by 1/4" of the bezel had to be removed from the bottom right face. It's tough plastic. I used a belt sander.

Overall Review: Although it requires removing material from the bezel (possibly invalidating the warranty), the price makes this a great drive replacement for older IBM T series laptops.
