Nice MB

MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 FM2 AMD A75 (Hudson D3) USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 FM2 AMD A75 (Hudson D3) USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Great price considering all of the features. USB 3.0 header for case front panel connector and ports on the back, HDMI output, HD audio and it looks pretty.

Cons: Only 2 DIMM slots (but I knew that when I ordered) SATA ports are mounted vertical instead of horizontal (again, I knew that when I ordered)

Overall Review: I did run into one issue: After the splash screen it would go straight into a shell command prompt. The temporary work around is to type in the exit command. The solution was to connect the SATA cable to a different port on the MB. It took me about 20 minutes to find that in a Tom's Hardware forum. You are welcome for saving you the effort. All in all a nice little board.

Most Critical Review

No Windows 7

HP 2000-2d60DX 15.6” Notebook AMD A-Series A6-5200 (2.00GHz) Quad Core CPU, 4GB Memory, 500GB HDD, AMD Radeon HD 8400, SuperMulti DVD Burner, Windows 8 64-Bit

Pros: Looks nice (if you don't mind fingerprints on gloss finish).

Cons: There are no network drivers available from HP for Windows 7.

Overall Review: If you are planning on keeping Windows 8, then disregard my review because it would not be an accurate assessment. I am a firm believer that Windows 8 is only has merit in a touch screen environment. I purchased this laptop with the intention of installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. It was not until after I had formatted the hard drive that I found out that HP never made LAN or WLAN drivers for this model that are supported in 7. I contacted HP and they said that since I "degraded" my OS that they could not support the device and I should contact Microsoft. What a joke. Microsoft doesn't make the drivers, the manufactures do (HP). The WLAN card is a Qualcomm Atheros AR5B125, so I thought maybe I could find a generic driver for that card that is supported in Windows 7. No such luck. These Manufacturers can essentially force us to use an OS simply by not providing drivers and it is BULL. The only work-around I was able to find is to purchase either a USB WLAN adapter or a USB to Ethernet adapter that use their own drivers. This seems pretty stupid when you think about the LAN and WLAN that are built into the laptop that are basically useless. If anyone can think of something I have overlooked here, I encourage you to write a review with that information in response.

It's RAM

Mushkin Enhanced 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model 991503
Mushkin Enhanced 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model 991503

Pros: Dual Channel It works

Cons: Price

Overall Review: Kind of bummed I had to pay $25 to upgrade RAM in a PC I bought from my employer's IT auction for $40.

Great Monitor!

LG 21.5" IPS FHD LCD Monitor IPS 14ms (GTG) D-Sub, DVI, HDMI IPS224V-PN
LG 21.5" IPS FHD LCD Monitor IPS 14ms (GTG) D-Sub, DVI, HDMI IPS224V-PN

Pros: Crisp, clear and vibrant. Color depth is amazing! Viewing angles are even better than expected. No light bleeding from the edges of the bezel. No dead pixels.

Cons: Haven't found any yet.

Overall Review: I've only had it for a couple weeks, so I can't speak to its longevity. The stand is very basic and only has tilt, but I knew that when I bought it. I did end up buying a mount with height adjustment and an articulating arm for it, but for the average user this one is fine.

Great Memory

G.SKILL Ares Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-1866C10D-16GAB
G.SKILL Ares Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-1866C10D-16GAB

Pros: Looks great! The Newegg photos don't do them justice. They look cheap and almost baby blue in the photos. In real life, they are a deep metallic blue. :-) I've had them for over a year with no problems. I simply had to go into the UEFI and set the speed to 1866 because they default to 1333. For the over-clockers, yes there is plenty of room for a decent OC. The gains would be marginal but it can easily be done. They are relatively low profile. I have a CM Hyper 212 in a push/pull config and it clears the dimms with plenty of room.

Cons: None that I've found.

Overall Review: * Best part is I got them before RAM prices skyrocketed. Paid $75 after $25 Promo code

It's okay

Skque 3.5mm Aux Cable Retract Black
Skque 3.5mm Aux Cable Retract Black

Pros: It's retractable and it works.

Cons: The materials seem kind of cheap. I doubt it will last as long as the thicker traditional (non-retractable) versions of the 3.5 cables.

Overall Review: Mine works fine for now. Time will tell but you get what you pay for. I go through high end ear buds every six months. If it lasts that long, I'll be happy with the $2.50 I spent.
