Pros: I'm using these with an old Dell rack. Using iStarUSA IS-26 Industrial type of Ball Bearing with 26" Sliding Rails. No problem installing some older motherboards in the cases. It came with plenty of hardware, and lots of room to mount drives.
Cons: Somewhat heavy, but very sturdy.
Overall Review: Had a little trouble mapping the jumper switch connections from an Acer computer to the switches on the case. Not really the case's fault as it is more standard than the motherboard. Just something to consider when buying a new case.
Good product if you can get all of it
Pros: Sturdy and works very well with an ARK 4U-500-CA Black 4U Rackmount Case on an Dell rack that has square holes.
Cons: I ordered 4 of these to rack some new servers. Of the 4 ordered, I only received 1 that was complete. They were shipped in the manufacturers product box, not a shipping container. The boxes they were sent in were a very light cardboard that isn't intended for shipping. The ends were only taped with a single light piece of tape. UPS automatically sent 1 of them back to NewEgg because it was too beat up to deliver. The ends of 2 of the ones they delivered were open and pieces were missing. One of the boxes was completely ripped in half, only held together by the rail inside the box. One of the boxes was taped up pretty well, and all the pieces made it. I had to send the other 2 back in new boxes. I'm not sure whether to order more or not. I like the product but don't think NewEgg can ship these successfully.
Pros: Lots of great configuration features. I was pleasantly surprised with the completeness of the configuration software, and the number of options, like the ability to run an ftp server, or access files from a web browser, etc. Very easy to use. Have no problems mounting share drives from XP, Vista, Windows 7, and Linux as CIFS drives. I installed Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive to set it up for RAID. Very easy to install. You have to use the screws that come with the NAS to install an extra drive. Not a problem, but I didn't see the screws in the package at first. They were small and hard to see.
Pros: Love it. I ordered this one because you can use either USB or PS/2 keyboard and mouse with it. I'm using an old PS/2 keyboard and a USB mouse and they work great. I'm using it with Linux, XP and Windows Vista and Windows 7 boxes. No problems switching between them, except that Windows 7 will lose its screen resolution setting sometimes. Seems to be a Windows 7 problem since all the other OS's work fine. I'm running a 23" monitor at 1920x1080 at 60 hz.
Overall Review: I had to buy their cables to work with it. I have a couple of computers that use PS/2 connections and a couple that use USB connections. Order the right cables for each and they work great.
Most contents missing
Pros: None. Its impossible to install.
Cons: Only 2 out of 7 items on the package contents list were actually in the box. No screws, washers, L shaped nut plate or rear L brackets were included. The install instructions were mostly missing as well. The one page referenced diagrams on other pages that weren't included.
Overall Review: The sliding rails themselves seem sturdy and would probably work well if they could be installed.
Took 10 days to receive the item
I ordered memory from Newegg. I didn't notice it was coming from a 3rd party or I probably would not have ordered it. They printed a mailing label less than 1 day from the order and I got a tracking number. However the tracking never seemed to update. I contacted Newegg after several days and they contacted the seller. There wasn't any way to cancel the order. The seller then shipped it, but needing the item quickly, I ordered from another company. I got the other order with standard shipping before the Newegg order came. This seller took 10 days from when I ordered it.
