Great Ram (How To Overclock)

Pros: It works, It's fast, it is in sync with my C2D E6600 FSB for 1:1 ratio which makes my Computer float. I have the voltages set to 2.0 and have only had 1 problem that was easily fixable. See Cons.

Cons: It didn't work in my ASUS P5N-E SLI's Black memory ports. Kept getting errors in Memtest. I moved the modules over to the Blue ports, and not a single problem, but I believe this is a chipset (or motherboard) issue, and has nothing to do woth the RAM.

Overall Review: Ok kids, a little lesson in overclocking. Yes, your C2D FSB is 1066mhz, yes, your DDR2 800 is, 800mhz. The difference is, Your FSB is Quad Pumped, and your RAM is Double pumped. Your Actual FSB for 1066 is 266.5 and your RAMs actual speed is 400. In order to make your PC perform better, you need to get your FSB clocked to 400x4, not get your RAM clocked to 1066. Otherwise your ram will outperform your FSB causing a bottleneck. The easiest way to get your C2D to 400mhz, is drop your multiplier to 8 (it defaults to 9) and increase your FSB to 400 (or 1600 depending on your BIOS) That will make your C2D run @ 3.2Ghz. Now your RAM and your FSB are 1:1 and there will be a noticeable performance increase. If you over clock your ram to say 850mhz, make sure to bump your FSB to 425 keep the 1:1 ratio. Good luck.

Pros: Fast shipping, low cost.

Cons: They don't work. I bought 1, got it 2 days later (thanks Newegg) and it just didn't work. The blue indicator light never came on even after 24 hours of charging. (The instructions say it will come on within 10-15 minutes) Anyway I did the RMA process which was a breeze, sent it back, and 3 days later, I got another one. Crossing my fingers for better luck, I plugged it in. 10-15 minutes later, Nothing. 12 hours later, nothing. I got on the manufacturers website, which looks and works like a 3rd grader designed it, and there are many typos. Not very professional. Theres a contact number, so I called it. It's an answering machine that repeats the number back you. (Ex. 5-5-5 5-5-5 5-5-5-5 is Not available. Please leave a message. Beep!) Also, there are no tech reviews ANYWHERE on the internet about Neo products. I wish I had done my research before hand.

Overall Review: I contacted Newegg support through online chat and they issued me a refund. No questions asked. Newegg is an outstanding reseller. The best on the web for computer parts, which is why I use them primarily.

Best Deal Out There By Far

Pros: You've read the specs. They're as good as they sound. The i5 and the GT540m are enough to do just about anything, whether it be Audio / Video editing or Gaming. Last night I loaded Black Ops and played for 5 straight hours. It averages around 50fps on medium settings, 35 fps on high. It never slowed down. I have also run the Dolphin Gamecube/Wii emulator and got Super Mario Brothers Wii and Zelda: The Windwaker to run at full speed and at 720p. So yes, it does exactly what you would expect from these specifications. The new i5 Processors also have Intel HD3000 graphics built in, and when you aren't gaming, the laptop switches over to it in order to save power. (This can be a pain, see cons) The battery lasts close to 3 hours, which for something this powerful, is very nice. You won't find anything else like this under nine hundred dollars. It really is a great bargain.

Cons: Nvidia Optimus - Switches between intel HD graphics and Nvidia graphics to save power. In some games, it will take the computer a second to realize it needs to switch, then it will stutter when it does. If you are plugged in, go into your Nvidia conrol panel under 3D settings go to global settings. Set the preferred graphics adapter to the 540m GT and it will always use the more powerful Nvidia card. 3USB ports / No E-sata / No Bluetooth / no Bluray /1 Speaker - This is the price you pay for such High end parts at such a low price. None of these cons are enough to drop the 5 egg rating, this computer is amazing even without those options.

Overall Review: If you have 700 dollars to spend on a laptop, you absolutely, positively with out a doubt, can not find a better laptop.

Pros: I got the 240m. I would say 80-90% of people ordering are getting one. My stickers say 130m but device manager says 240m. I used GPU-Z and it verified that it is indeed a 240m with DDR3. It's not GDDR3, but for six fitty, i cant complain. I am so happy I bought this when I did, because I am looking at the website right now, it says sold out, and no estimated arrival time (possibly gone for good.) This laptop has enough punch to play the most demanding games on medium settings. You can crank them to high, but most (new) games on high at full rez will dip below 30fps and thats not playable for me. The core 2 duo at 2.2 ghz is not the newest chip out there, but for a mobile PC, it does everything I want it to and more. I was concerned about the wifi because of negative reviews. Turns out theres nothing to be concerned about. It gets great signal from both wireless G and N routers, and picks up long range networks that my friends Core i5 Sony ViaO doesnt get. Webcam is great. Boots Fast

Cons: -Nothing Blue. No Bluetooth or Blu-Ray. I bought an ASUS mini Bluetooth receiver for it. Blu-Ray doesn't bother me because it will be dead technology in a year or so when everything goes to digital downloads. -only 3 USB slots: would have liked to have more, but Ill get a hub for it. -~2 hour battery life in eco mode. If you leave it in performance mode and try to play a game this thing will discharge in like 30 minutes. -5400rpm hard drive - it would be nice to have a SSD like some of the newer laptops. I will probably upgrade to an SSD in 6 months or so when the price is not so ridiculous. -Sound card has some interference. not sure what the cause is, but there is some humming in my headphones when the processor is crunching numbers,

Overall Review: None of the cons I have listed are enough to drop this laptop below 5 eggs. The fact is, in the 500-899 price range, there are no better laptops out there. Im including the core i3 and i5 laptops that come with lesser video cards or integrated graphics. The fact is, in todays world your GPU is just as important (and for us gamers, more so!) as the cpu. The GT 240m is no slouch. I would rate its performance right there with a desktop 9600 GT 1GB. I have 3 desktop video cards -- a GTX 260, an 8800GT and a 9600GT and the performance falls right between the 9600 and the 8800, with the 8800 being only slightly better than the 9600gt and the gt240m at higher resolutions. I am spoiled by the performance of the GTX 260, but for on the go gaming, this thing is a powerful piece of equipment.

Pros: Celeron and Centrino are not the same. Celeron is a processor, Centrino is a SPECIFICATION. They do NOT build core 2 duos with celeron processors. A core 2 duo processor has much much more l2 cache than a celeron processor, and operates more efficiently at lower clock speed. A 3.2ghz Celeron processor is much much much slower than a 2.2Ghz core 2 duo.

Cons: If you want a fast processor, get a Core 2 Duo or Quad, Core i5 or i7, the latter being the best out there right now. Celeron is the worst processor intel makes. It is entry level. I call it the Grandma processor. It's ok for "Mammy" surfing the web for coupons, but it doesn't cut it if you want to watch HD movies or do any gaming at all.

Overall Review: This laptop has the best value I have seen at this price range. Mostly because of the Nvidia GT 130M

Pros: Centrino is not a processor. It is a specification. In order for a computer to have the centrino label, it must meet certain specifications, such as a certain processor type and/or speed, the amount of ram, video processor, wifi capable, and a few other minor things. Basically its an Intel marketing gimmick. Every so often the minimum specs go up. You will never see a netbook with a centrino logo.

Overall Review: It really makes no difference to me, but maybe your understanding would be better classified as average. No offence intended.
