Most Critical Review

Nice while it lasted.

SanDisk Sansa Clip Zip 1.1" Black 4GB MP3 Player SDMX22-004G-A57K
SanDisk Sansa Clip Zip 1.1" Black 4GB MP3 Player SDMX22-004G-A57K

Pros: Holds a decent amount of music. Compact and usually easy to use.

Cons: I've owned this unit for 6 months and 5 days. I use it once a week for a 3-4 hour period, then a 1-2 hour break, then another 3-4 hour period. Today it decided to cease all functioning in mid-stride. I did not touch it or bump it. I've never dropped the unit. It just died. I'm really not happy at all about now having to replace this & go through all the effort I made to put the entertainment I wanted to take with me onto a new unit. I'll have to search, convert, tag, & upload it all again. Yes I know I could have saved a back up, but since I already have the original files, and this unit is still new in my opinion, I did not feel the need to do this since space is important on my hard drives. This doesn't have a locking control that slides & stays locked like previous models. The power button is on the top, turning the unit on/off by holding the button down. To lock the player so unintended pressing doesn't change the playback mode, you press the power button briefly. The problem with this is if you accidentally touch that button, the unit unlocks & the controls are active again & the next touch of any control will cease your playback. The original design of a sliding control for locking the unit doesn't allow for that mistake. This unit cannot be charged & used at the same time, nor was I ever able to enable playback of media on the unit through my computer. There is no way to change a dead battery on this unit. Instead you get to discard the unit and buy a new one. This is of course the way everything is made these days but still I would have like to have seen that when I was researching this before I bought it. I really resent this form of marketing. I was never able to get this unit to play other file types had to convert everything I put on it to MP3's. This is possibly a fault of mine though as maybe I didn't know something I needed to know. A color led screen is nice, but hardly necessary in my opinion, considering this is designed for "active" users who not sitting there looking at the unit. I'd prefer that one of the other issues I have with the design be addressed & gladly give up the color feature. It's actually harder for me to read the information on the colored screen than it is on the older Sans Disc model I have. Considering this is designed for people on the go, I have to say the controls are not optimal. It's common for me to think I'm pressing the correct area of the control pad but to get a different response than I intended. Very careful attention will decrease the number of times I do this, but that's my point. I'm not paying attention to the unit, I'm active & occupied, & that means I don't have the time to take it off & look at it & figure it out. This isn't me complaining, I'm simply describing the experience that comes with using this unit as it was intended to be used. The card is a separate source, so music saved to the unit cannot be played with music on the card when in shuffle mode.

Overall Review: I purchased this when getting an external hard drive, meaning this wasn't what I was paying attention to during the purchase process. I'll not be distracted during my next purchase & will certainly purchase a warranty for the next MP3 player. My fault for not getting the warranty for this, but my first Sans Disc player has lasted for years, & really, with modern technology where it is today, there really is no excuse for something to suddenly stop working. Why do you think they design these so that when the rechargeable battery dies it can't be replaced!? Maybe I'll try one more time.

Pros: None so far.

Cons: Doesn't turn on. Weird power button protrudes from the back at an odd location, functions as a joystick type of control, and the monitor gives no indication of having any power. Confirmed tested power supply and connections. Old monitor works fine. A delivery nightmare and a full day of waiting for what turned out to be a 2 hour delivery window culminates in unpacking to discover it won't turn on. Now I get to repackage it, wait up to 5 working days for UPS to pick it up, and then get it back to NewEgg within the 7-10 days granted by the RMA. After they receive it, the whole process starts over. Gigabyte sites do not exist online. All links lead to a blank error page. I can't find any information in the "manual" which consists of 1 line of text per language, Here's what I have to go on: "Step 3: Powering on." No duration or direction of pressing power button changes the fact it's not turning on. There is no online information on how to actually power it on. Should have picked the next one up the line. Might just go ahead and do that anyway. So frustrating.

Overall Review: Will update if it gets better.

Extremely Disappointing

iBUYPOWER Desktop PC Source Series NE784K Intel Core i7-5820K 16GB DDR4 1TB HDD 120 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 4 GB Windows 8.1 64-Bit

Pros: CONS: THIS IS THE ONLY TIME I WILL EVER HAVE PURCHASED ANY IBUYPOWER PRODUCT: First computer arrived with all ports on the back out of alignment with the corresponding holes in the case. This prevented plugging in any components and usb cords. No efforts on my part could correct this. There were no obvious indications that this issue had been caused during handling, such as bent mountings or casing sides, edges, and interior configurations. It looked like it had simply been put together into a case that was offset at one end when the holes were cut into it. It wasn't just a tad off center, it was so far off that only half of a port was visible through the hole. Given this extreme, it seems to me that no one ever even checked this most obvious assembly point. The interior box was obviously damaged from handling with a considerable hole and damaged corner, yet the exterior box was in good condition. This indicates it was packaged after it was obviously potentially damaged. That's incredibly irresponsible on someone's part. Response from Newegg was exceptional. Returned, and after waiting, contacted Newegg again and requested the review of the pc operation be skipped since it did not apply to this instance. Newegg expedited the process and sent a replacement with a faster shipping option which was very appreciated. Replacement computer was noticeably different in it's interior configuration, looking much more messy than the previous one. I realized this meant there are no standard guidelines to building a specific IBuyPower model. So much for pride in one's work and brand name. Being less experienced, it took me a considerable amount of time to understand many basics. A simple diagram indicating which ports were for what would have saved me a lot of frustration. Considering the cost, I don't think this is too much to ask. Also, for me, this is an expensive computer, although not the most expensive. I had expectations of receiving a product that would reflect that fact. These expectations were greater for the second, replacement, one. It's a considerable struggle to reattach the side panel on this one. Much more difficult than the first one. Only one of the two usb front ports works properly. Discussing this with an IBuyPower representative, I was told this was a common occurrence and simply checking and readjusting it would solve the problem - it likely got jarred during shipping. Note that this replacement had damage to the exterior box, but the interior packaging was adequate in in decent condition. However, readjusting didn't solve the problem, and it was an inconsistent explanation based on what I told the person I spoke to. Components/whatever, are not recognized by the computer when plugged into this usb port, however it will charge an MP3 player and similar things. Every person I've asked about this says this makes no sense. All I know is for the cost of this pc, I'm down one properly functioning usb port!

Cons: From the beginning, this computer will just freeze and need to be rebooted. This happens during game play, during idling in game in a low graphic environment, and even when not playing. It happens at any given point, even when I'm not doing anything with it and only have the background screen showing. It averages about one time a day. I only play one game really. In my limited experience, it is a more graphic intensive game as far as my basic 2009 computer was concerned, but it's not one that is reputed for being over the top. Actually, it's a more popular MMO and it is Never referenced in any discussions that pertain to games that will test even mid level video cards and graphics components. The pc actually lags during intense graphic instances. Given the amount of time I spent doing research on which system I should choose, and the advice given to me by IBuyPower and others about this pc build, I am at a loss for words. I would say it is unbelievable, but I'm the one who gets to experience it, so that doesn't apply. For all my time, attempts to educate myself, consulting other knowledgeable people, and considerable amount of money, I'm left playing a game set to the lowest graphics settings, still. So much for my hopes of getting a true and rewarding gaming experience. Additionally, I will add that I purchased this when there were only two reviews on Newegg. I would have skipped it if I had seen the reviews that have been posted since then, considering I have some of the same issues with mine. (Three of the four 1 egg reviews apply to my experience. I include the third, "shipped with different components" review due to the extreme difference in appearance of the interiors of the two I have seen. (The second one really looks like some drunk guy on the night shift put it together, and he was sharing with the guy in QA, if IBuyPower even has a QA.) In fairness, I do not know enough to know if I have different components than what was listed for the pc at the time of my purchase. But if I had to bet on it, I know which way I would place my bet.

Overall Review: Nicely put, I'm just disgusted with the entire experience with this IBuyPower pc. I've wasted so much of my time and money on this. It was easy to think I just had bad luck the first time around, but all of the issues of and with the replacement only amplifies my frustration. I certainly would not allow my customers to experience a performance similar to this from my business services and product. Before purchasing, I did speak with IBuyPower, beginning with identifying myself as a less than tech savvy person, stating that I had many questions. The person did his best to answer my questions and I was clear that he did not know everything, but I didn't expect anyone to know it all either. He was helpful and polite and I felt I was getting insight to most of the information I needed. It was not an exceptionally long call. At one point, he asked me to hold. I waited several minutes, at least five. He returned, and I asked if his supervisor had just told him they pay him to sell product, not educate customers. I asked this because I had been told this by an employer in my past - (I felt purchasing and keeping live animals warranted making sure a customer asking the right questions received the correct information.) Surprisingly, or not so, he said yes. This is exactly what the supervisor had told him. So here is a customer looking at spending this much for a product, and the supervisor has the gall to have me put on hold for five minutes (I pay for my minutes) to tell his employee to stop answering my questions! If you're going to run a business and encourage people to call and ask questions, IBuyPower, then don't get upset when a customer, or even a potential customer, comes to you for help. If that's a problem for you, then don't offer the service!!!!!!!!! Why didn't I return the second one? Work. I needed a pc and had already spent a month from the time I paid way too much money until I received the replacement. I could no longer postpone the things I needed to accomplish. For my money I've made a 40% improvement from what I had before, based on the SSD. I also now get my daily reboot and dead usb port fixes, because why should anyone expect to receive something that works properly for the money they spend? I have 0% confidence in IBuyPower. I will never purchase from them again, and do and will actively encourage any potential customer to look elsewhere. Perhaps you will be lucky, unfortunately I was not, twice in a row. Currently I am planning on replacing this failure of a pc for what I wanted. I'll either pay some company an exorbitant amount of money to put one together for me, fumble my way through an attempt at making one myself with components purchased from Newegg, or take another chance at getting a prebuilt system from anyone other than IBuyPower. Newegg did a fine job of assisting me with the return process, making extra efforts due to my particular situation, and I greatly appreciate that.
