Noctua NH-C14 140mm x 2 SSO CPU Cooler
Noctua NH-C14 140mm x 2 SSO CPU Cooler

Pros: It's all about the little things, and Noctua considers them all. They include two sets of adapters for 'quiet' and 'ultra-quiet' fan speeds--not that either makes a lick of difference, but it's still nice that they included them! The quality of the parts, the precision in every aspect of the design is astounding. They make it SO EASY to configure it exactly the way you want it, you can put the whole thing in any way you want, so that it fits the best way it can. They include tons of extras (like rubber screws just in case you want to use one of the 140mm fans on your case instead). Overall, you just can't give this product less than a 5 star. It actually made my cpu temp lower, and because it's so big it even made my VReg and ram cooler too!

Cons: None, not even a typo in the instructions!

Overall Review: I'd recommend this heatsink to anybody. I built a 4U rackmounted studio machine whose height is only 7 inches, with a quarter inch of sound dampening foam and a quarter inch of mobo standoff and this thing FIT like a dream still! If you are considering the same type of machine, you'll be pleasantly surprised even after reading all these reviews.

ASUS P5N72-T Premium LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS P5N72-T Premium LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: It's an Asus, so you know it's going to work fine. Comes with pretty cool customization software and pci express 2.0. Excellent on-board sound card, you don't need anything else, up to 8Gb of Ram.

Cons: The sound card makes it impossible to use 2 graphics cards. The lower PCIexpress2.0 slot is so low that I couldn't physically plug in the firewire and extra USBs on the board. This was also due to my case's internal structure (Antec Performance One P180 ATX mid tower).

Overall Review: Make sure your case has enough space

Fast, no power necessary

HooToo® HT-CR002 External USB 3.0 Multi-in-One Card Reader (4 Memory Slots, Genesys GL3220 Chipset) & SuperSpeed USB 3.0 3-Port Hub (VIA VL810 Chipset, 5V/2A Power Adapter, 3 feet USB 3.0 Cable)
HooToo® HT-CR002 External USB 3.0 Multi-in-One Card Reader (4 Memory Slots, Genesys GL3220 Chipset) & SuperSpeed USB 3.0 3-Port Hub (VIA VL810 Chipset, 5V/2A Power Adapter, 3 feet USB 3.0 Cable)

Pros: This thing is super fast. I bought it because I only have a laptop and USB slots are limited. I run a Ducky keyboard, Wacom tablet and a mouse off this thing without plugging it in. I also use it to pull gigs and gigs of photos from my camera's compact flash MUCH faster than simply plugging in the camera directly.

Cons: The LED is brighter than ten thousand suns. Electrical tape is a must, so add $2.99 to the price or raid your friends' garages and find some?

Used to be Great

Crucial M4 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT256M4SSD2
Crucial M4 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT256M4SSD2

Pros: Super fast, no driver issues.

Cons: It stopped working properly after about a year. Crashes every thirty minutes or so.

Overall Review: I should have waited for SSD to become more reliable, but I had to have one when it was new and happening. Next time I'll buy from a brand that I know makes reliable hard drives or stick to regular drives that last a lifetime. It's like the rabbit and the hare: it will bound ahead of your HDD but crash before the finish line...

Poorly Designed

EVGA 141-GT-E770-A1 LGA 1366 Intel X58 USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard
EVGA 141-GT-E770-A1 LGA 1366 Intel X58 USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Sturdy, high quality parts, lots of slots, firewire, tons of bios options

Cons: Placement of the voltage regulator (the giant heatsink with the tiny little fan by the CPU) couldn't be worse! 1. It gets in the way of your processor heatsink, making it incredibly difficult to install the stock i7 heatsink. 2. Its placement makes it IMPOSSIBLE to put anything in the Mini PCI slot...may as well not even include one. 3. Probably the worst thing the voltage regulator does is make it nearly impossible to put in/take out your VIDEO CARD...The tiny little hinge that (I guess) helps keep the card in place is so hard to reach that I would suggest that you snap it off before even attempting a full install of the mobo. Trust me, you'll thank yourself later on. 4. If you're planning on buying an aftermarket CPU heatsink, be aware that there's a great chance you'll have to bend your voltage regulator to get the heatsink to fit. Other than the terrible placement of this part which gets in the way of so many key components, the board is good.

Overall Review: I wish it came with SPDIF optical on the sound card or at least as an extra PCI as the board has a jack for SPDIF built in, strange that they wouldn't just include one. I'll probably stick wit ASUS from now on

Choose an OS, you only get one

LaCie Rugged 1TB USB 2.0 / Firewire400 / Firewire800 2.5" Portable External Hard Drive 301924
LaCie Rugged 1TB USB 2.0 / Firewire400 / Firewire800 2.5" Portable External Hard Drive 301924

Pros: Very durable, this thing ZOOMS with firewire 800; I've never seen such speed.

Cons: You cannot transfer files between a Mac and a PC without formatting the entire drive (or partitioning--but then you may as well buy 2 500GBs and save yourself the $$). This is a FATAL FLAW.

Overall Review: If you only have a Mac, or you only have a PC, get it! I bought one for my Macbook Pro when they had firewire 800 (not sure if they still do as it seems like they come out with a new model during the time it takes them to ship the darn thing over from China). Man, was it blazing fast! As I said, though, you can't use it with a PC and Mac simultaneously.
