Great Picture
Pros: Price - Got the monitor on sale and with coupon for $169.99 Colors - IPS display produces very nice natural colors. Some will complain that the picture is dark, but to me it is more natural and not washed out. Even on a word document the white is very white and black is very black making the text very easy to read. Side by side with a Samsung 24" Twisted Nematic monitor the Samsung is quite a bit brighter, but it looks much more washed out and I thought it had a great picture. Viewing angle - The IPS display provides a great viewing angle. Very light weight for 27"
Cons: Stand is a bit flimsy, most these days seem to be. Power is a wall wart, would prefer a standard power cable with internal PSU or a power brick with a standard chord.
Overall Review: Would like to take a moment to criticize Barbara M. and her useless review. I understand it is frustrating when your package is not complete, or in your case you threw the screws to the stand out. That however does not merit a 1 egg review that provides no detail at all as to the quality or functionality of the item being reviewed. The information you provided while potentially useful for others who purchase the monitor should be in the other thoughts section. If you are going to give a 1 egg review it should have at least something to do with the product quality and or performance.
Fantastic Monitor
Pros: Decent Price Fantastic Image Quality Very fast response, make sure you go through the menus
Cons: Freesync instead of Gsync Don't like the menu button on the back of the monitor. Kind of a PITA to use. Poor documentation in regards to applying firmware updates.
Overall Review: I am a little tired of reading these reviews which bash the HDR support. Yes you can enable HDR in the display settings of Windows 10, but NO the Windows 10 GUI and Apps do not support it. This is why everything looks "washed out". It is not this monitors fault that the OS support and game support for HDR is sub par. Enable HDR in windows 10(the GUI will look washed out and very dim), then load Call of Duty WW II and enable HDR in the game options. It looks amazing. Even better, leave HDR off in Windows 10 and run Battlefield 1 or SW Battlefront II. Those games automatically enable HDR(no need to enable in WIndows 10 display properties yielding the washed out GUI) and looks amazing. BF 1 and SW BF2 have the HDR implementation that all games should have. It isn't this monitors fault that the OS and Games have poor implementation and support for HDR.
Fantastic card
Pros: Very fast easy to install. I replaced 2 GTX 980 TI's with this card and it has handled everything I have thrown at it. My temps hover around 65c even through benchmarking in 3DMark.
Cons: Only con thus far is the price.
Overall Review: I was cautious when purchasing this card because all of the complaints I read regarding heat and coil whine. I have not experienced either. I suspect those that complain of the noise have set an aggressive fan curve for the card. The fans in these card are 3500 RPM, previous cards were 2500 RPM. Understandably at 3500 RPM's the noise is quite noticeable, but if your fans are running at that speed there is an issue. I played CoD WW II for a couple of hours and my fans never went over 20000 rpm. Temp didn't go over 70c and there was no noticeable noise.
Beutiful Picture
Pros: Probably the best picture quality I have seen to day. I ordered 3 of these. 2 for my boss and one for myself. Mine is next to an Acer H235H in dual monitor mode and the picture quality compared to the Acer(which I also think is very nice) is far superior. The display is very light weight and the stand is very easy to assemble. Includes a DVI to HDMI cable which is nice.
Cons: None
Overall Review: I got three of these as a shell shocker deal for $160.00 each. I could not be happier. Received them in 3 business days from New Egg. One of the best purchases if not the best purchase I have made in the past 10 years.
Great Hardware
Pros: The hardware on this machine, save the hard drive, is outstanding. The display is wonderfull. It is a very large laptop but it is a desktop replacement. Everything works as advertised, and it is wonderfull once Vista and the default included bloatware is wiped.
Cons: Upon the very first boot of this machine there were 85 running processes and 1.63GB of memory used. I am sorry but this laptop is labeled as and sold as a GAMING laptop. Anyone with a clue will understand what those numbers mean, and let me reiterate that it was the initial boot. Spending the time now gathering up the XP drivers to do a clean install. Kind of irritated that there is no downgrade option. Norton security suite comes installed as well. Norton is a virus in itself in regards to the performance degradation it inflicts on any machine it occupys. No clue what Asus is doing here, but the hardware is great and almost worth the time it takes to make this laptop usable at a level that merrits its price.
Overall Review: Vista may have its purposes, I am open minded, but it is not the preferred OS for gamers. It simply is too resource intensive. This laptop is a gaming laptop and Vista just does not suit it. If you do not have a copy windows XP and the time to wipe the original configuration this is not the laptop for you. New Egg as always just rocks and had the order processes, shipped, and delivered as fast as one could hope.
No customer service here
Was sent a tracking number that is invalid. Still have not received my order but I have no idea if it is late or not because I have no valid tracking. Contacted seller twice over 2 days no reply no working tracking number. Contacted NewEgg who contacted the seller, no reply. Would not purchase anything from these folks going forward. Might receive my order tomorrow though, who knows.
Disappointing
Took well over a month to receive my purchase. NewEgg basically says it is a markeplace purchase so I need to contact seller who was not replying to me. Nothing similar to actually purchasing from NewEgg, but it is still NewEgg's reputation. I will not purchase from marketplace again, and will also check elsewhere for similar price before buying from NewEgg again.
