Glad I pulled the trigger

SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7870 XT w/Boost 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card 100354XTL
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7870 XT w/Boost 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card 100354XTL

Pros: I've kept putting off buying a new video card for ages. I'm glad that I finally pulled the trigger for my birthday. This card is absolutely amazing! I had a Sapphire 5770 and it was definitely feeling its age. After seeing how well it reviewed on Tom's Hardware, I knew it was time. When I first turned my machine on, I had to check all the fans because I thought maybe something wasn't working. It's just that quiet! I installed AMD's reference drivers, since they're usually more stable. Last night I installed one of the two, FREE, games that I got with this purchase: Tomb Raider. I figured I'd just start out on Ultra settings (1680x1050) but after seeing Vsync results of a consistent 60 FPS, I just threw it up to max and it's still incredibly smooth and the game looks amazing. I haven't run in to any issues at all with this card. No artifacting and no crashes. Temperatures are low under load (64C is the highest I've seen) and the highest the fans have gone are 40%.

Cons: The only slight con (not worth any ding to the rating) is that the card is long. I knew this going in and was already prepared to move a couple hard drives down a bay.

Impressive Card

MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 4G
MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 4G

Pros: So far this card is mostly crushing everything I'm throwing at it. Keep in mind I'm only running 1080p, but that's good enough for me. At this point it's likely to be my processor holding me back, and that will be remedied soon.

Cons: I took off one egg because when running some programs I'd get a hang up and possible error about the display driver stopped responding and recovered. I'm not 100% sure if it's tied to the game or the drivers, but finding a fix (that I'm still in the process of testing) was troublesome. I don't believe the card itself is defective though.

Overall Review: When I first encountered the display driver issue, I installed some monitoring software to make sure the card was overheating, but so far that doesn't appear to be the case. It's actually impressive that when there isn't any gaming going on, the card will go in to passive cooling mode.
