Addendum to Previous Review2/1/2009 1:55:36 PM

Pros: Follow-up to previous review because I'm now completely blown away by this RAM. Prime95 stable for around 8 hours at - get this: DDR2-1200 5-6-6-15 @ 2.5V They are warm to the touch. (2) sticks on Gigabyte EP45-UD3R.

Cons: None.

If You Can FInd a Better Budget CPU Buy It2/1/2009 12:08:00 AM

Pros: Can reach 4GHz on air but not for the faint of heart. Cool and stable at 3.7Ghz @ 1.625V (could almost certainly lower the voltage but it's time consuming stress-testing every .0025V so I'm just leaving it at the upper spec limit.

Cons: 2MB L2 cache, you'll spend another 35 USD for the AC Freezer Pro 7 which is nearly half the price of the processor or - worse - nearly the price of the processor again for something from Zalman to reach this chip's potential.

Overall Review: E5200 @ 320 FSB x 11.5 = 3.68GB at 1.625V (Hit 4GB rock stable @ 1.5V for kicks) Kingston KHX8500D2k2/2GNR @ 200MHz strap, 5-5-5-15 @ 2.2V, a hair over 1066 (forget the memory multi) AC Freezer Pro 7 Gigabyte UD3R Mobo (fantastic board coming from an Asus fanboy) Powercolor Radeon HD4850 @ 690/1100 nice n' cool Corsair CMPSU-400CX 400W PS I'm still and AMD fanboy but with Intel's current line card it's almost as painful as being a Detroit Lions fan.

Superior Work from Gigabyte1/31/2009 11:52:37 PM

Pros: Overclocker's dream mobo, excellent layout, excellent SB cooling solution, plenty of room for large NB coolers, thick, heavy PCB and caps - this board just screams superior engineering and quality from every angle. Surprisingly, for a motherboard from any manufacturer, the manual is actually quite good. Looks to have a something similar to Asus's My Logo 3 to create custom BIOS boot screens which should be of interest to system builders. The UD3R is the Excalibur of single GPU socket 775 motherboards. Get it.

Cons: Single graphics card solution only - no SLI or X-fire but who cares at this price? Gigabyte BIOS updating flaky both online and via USB thumb drive. Never did flash from F5 to F6 despite several attempts.

Overall Review: Coming off a few P5B's and M2NE's which I had no complaints with for the most part, this board is just the next level. I've looked to Asus first for years now and you know what? That just changed. Bravo Gigabyte! Relevent spec's: E5200 @ 320 FSB x 11.5 = 3.68GB at 1.625V (Hit 4GB rock stable @ 1.5V for kicks) Kingston KHX8500D2k2/2GNR @ 200MHz strap, 5-5-5-15 @ 2.2V, a hair over 1066 (forget the memory multi) AC Freezer Pro 7 Powercolor Radeon HD4850 @ 690/1100 nice n' cool Corsair CMPSU-400CX 400W PS

Great Buy1/31/2009 11:10:53 PM

Pros: Runs at advertised speeds and a bit more, price is unbeatable, excellent compatibility. 24 hours of Prime95 w/slight overclock and all is well.

Cons: Recognized as 800MHz in BIOS, had to manually set which seems to be the case with all of these "golden sample" memory sticks we buy on the cheap to run out of spec.

Overall Review: E5200 @ 320 FSB x 11.5 = 3.68GB at 1.625V (Hit 4GB rock stable @ 1.5V for kicks) Kingston KHX8500D2k2/2GNR @ 200MHz strap, 5-5-5-15 @ 2.2V, a hair over 1066 (forget the memory multi) AC Freezer Pro 7 Gigabyte UD3R Mobo (fantastic board coming from an Asus fanboy) Powercolor Radeon HD4850 @ 690/1100 nice n' cool Corsair CMPSU-400CX 400W PS

That Great WD Feeling1/31/2009 11:01:13 PM

Pros: Good price per unit storage, reasonably quiet, Western Digital. Why would you even look at another HDD manufacturer?

Cons: Why I'm writing this review: you get 300GB not 320GB. Partition C: @ 30GB, the rest is D: and it's 269GB. I would have bought it anyway but why not just call it a WD3000AAJS 300GB 7200 RPM...

Overall Review: E5200 @ 320 FSB x 11.5 = 3.68GB at 1.625V (Hit 4GB rock stable @ 1.5V for kicks) Kingston KHX8500D2k2/2GNR @ 200MHz strap, 5-5-5-15 @ 2.2V, a hair over 1066 (forget the memory multi) AC Freezer Pro 7 Gigabyte UD3R Mobo (fantastic board coming from an Asus fanboy) Powercolor Radeon HD4850 @ 690/1100 nice n' cool Corsair CMPSU-400CX 400W PS
