Pros: This is an awesome Motherboard. I wound up buying it on a different site because newegg was sold out at the time.
The features on this motherboard are awesome! Plenty of tweaking and modifying features for both the technically advanced and newcomers like my self.
The ability for some one with little or no knowledge of Bios navigation to overclock with one button is amazing. You can choose between 3 different pre-loaded profiles of overclocking at the touch of a button.
Wireless is really nice too. Just be aware if you plan on gaming with a wireless connection make sure you have a good router.
Q-code is another awesome feature if you should have difficulty with something on your board there are numbers displayed in the upper right hand corner of the board that can easily be looked up in the manual that will let you know what the issue is.
Another great feature about this board is the bios flashback feature. It basically guarantees you can't mess up your board. All you need is the current version of the bios formatted correctly on a flash drive. Even if your board won't post all you have to have connected is the board power and CPU socket power, insert the flash drive and hold down the flash button on the back of the board for 3 seconds and it will begin downloading the bios update from the flash drive. You don't have to have the CPU or the Ram installed to do this. In fact, you have to do this before you install the CPU and the RAM. On the driver update on Asus's website it states you need to update the bios using the flashback or EZupdate BEFORE you install the CPU in order for the bios to be compatible with the 4th gen Haswell CPUs. If you do buy this make sure to check the drivers and everything prior to beginning building, a lot of people don't realize this has to be done first.
I could go on about the features of this board but just don't have the time.
Cons: Dosen't give blowies
Overall Review: I was hesitant to get this board at first because of the reviews on newegg; however, after my journey through many forums and more in depth research I decided to make the plunge, and I'm so glad I did. Lots of the reviews on here complain about socket pins being bent, mPCIe wireless card not working, or failure to boot, now I can expect that I'm sure there were a couple DOAs but come on. I read a review where a guy said the thing wasn't working and he listed his tech level at above average then says in the review its his first PC build. Are you kidding me?
Anyway this was my first PC build and I managed to have no problems as I did my research before my purchase making sure everything was compatible and what steps I had to do in what order prior to setup, even contacting Asus support a few times prior to my build. They were pretty good for the most part.
As for the problems other people were having, with the rare exception of factory damage, if CPU socket pins were bent they probably didn't install it correctly then blame the product. If the wireless card wasn't working for them, chances are they tried to install it after installing the mother board in the case, which is difficult, and bent a pin on it. It's not like a card and has several long thin pins, and it fits very closely to the heatsink.
If the motherboard failed to boot, chances are they didn't update the bios either via flashback or ezflash prior to installation of the CPU and RAM. In order for the bios to be compatible with the 4th generation Haswell CPUs you first have to update the bios either via flashback (which is an awesome feature) or EZ flash BEFORE you install the CPU and the RAM. Many do not know this but it says it on the update on Asus's website. If people did some research and took their time instead of just jaming things in it would probably turn out better. I was able to make everything function properly the first time and this was my first PC build, but I did my research.
Pros: Good product does what its supposed to.
Overall Review: Actually barley even wound up using this. Just ran a humidifier in the room I was building in and just constantly discharged myself before touching any components.
Pros: Definitely awesome. A little pricey, but you usually get what you pay for and with this you definitely do.
Cons: None so far
Overall Review: Something I though was cool that I don't remember seeing in any of the reviews, on the inside corners of the heat sink of the RAM it lights up little white LEDs. Thought that was pretty cool.
Pros: This is a great cooler. Fans are pretty quiet too if you care about that. I switched them out with some jet flos with blue LEDs. Still pump and fans are quiet and its easy to install. White light on the pump is a nice touch too.
Overall Review: Be aware of how much space you have. Not just length and width, but depth too. How high up in your case your motherboard is going to sit and how far out some of the components at the top of your mother board may be sticking out. The screws that hold the ban to the radiator are thumb screws so they stick out another 1/4 inch from where the fan sits. I did not take this into consideration and wound up having to grind down the thumbscrew portion on two of the screws. I have a Maximus VI Formula and the thumb screws were hitting the mobo heatsink. Just something to be aware of.
Pros: I bought this just for storing games. I have an SSD for my boot drive and all of my documents, photos, and videos are saved to a cloud drive. Compared to my regular drive in my old PC, boot up times on my games are maybe half of what they were. Installations are extremely quick as well.
Cons: I have not had any issues with this drive as of yet; however, I have read many reviews about people stating the fail after a couple months due to the higher RPM speed. I will check back and be sure to update my review should I experience such a failure.
Pros: If all you need is a DVD ROM writer and reader this is it! $20? Whats not to like. Worked great for me so far no issues
Cons: None so far.
Overall Review: I read a lot of reviews on here dogging on this thing calling it garbage many people said it broke after a few months, but lets be honest, how many times are you going to use this other than initial setup and maybe the occasional game that you for some reason don't download? Even if it did break after a few months, you got a few months out of it. Its $20 bucks what do you want.
Pros: Used this in my first PC build so don't really have anything to compare it to, but I do know CPU heat dissipation is great. So seems like its doing its job.
Pros: Still new to PC building, but this processor is really awesome especially if you plan on doing any kind of overclocking. Very fast.
Pros: These lights are an awesome price for what they are. They have a nice amount of play room in the cords for mounting out of direct sight. The molex connectors on them have both male and female connections, makes for super easy daisy chaining to minimize cords from your PSU.
Cons: Not really a con, because its just personal taste and can't take off an egg because these things are awesome for the price, but if you like your rig bright, make sure to get more than 3. I have a Raidmax Vampire ATX case so the side window is slightly tinted. I bought 3 of these and its just not bright enough for my liking. Will probably buy at least 2 more. Still a very solid product though.
Pros: Probably way more than you need if you're only building one rig; however, this came in very handy as sometimes you run into situations where the fasteners that come with whatever component you purchases either are chincy, don't fit right for your configuration, or are just plain garbage. Nice to have this just in case.
Pros: Not a bad tool kit for the cost. Has everything necessary for a first time building like myself.
Cons: I realize I read about the item before purchasing it, but I think for the price it would have been better if the screwdrivers were magnetized. Can't take an egg for that though. I knew what it was.
Pros: Really Fast SSD. Great boot drive. Plenty of space for OS and a couple of your favorite games.
Pros: Great pad for the price does the job
Pros: This is an awesome case with Plenty of room for expansion. The blue LED front fan is a nice touch!
Cons: Not really a con but the side window is tinted. Would have preferred clear, but still shines and can see all the components. Still great with plenty of room.
