High quality cooling

Scythe SCRT-1000 120mm Sleeve New High-End Top-Flow CPU Cooler
Scythe SCRT-1000 120mm Sleeve New High-End Top-Flow CPU Cooler

Pros: This is an update to a previous post. This cooler is awesome. I realized that I did not latch the cooler down to the cpu latch properly. I was baffled by the temperature I was getting, so I decided to look into my pc and realized that I forgot the most important step. Once I fixed my error and switched my fan to intake instead of exhaust. I have been getting wonderful temps.

Cons: only what was mentioned in the post titled: Adequate

Overall Review: Case: Antec 902 OS: Windows 7 64bit CPU: Athlon II X4 630 Propus 2.8MHz O.C. to 3.36MHz GPU: VisionTek Radeon HD 6870 1GB Mem: Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 6GB Mobo: ASUS M4A88TD-M/USB3 PSU: CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-650HX 650W HDD: WD Caviar Black 1TB CD/DVD: ASUS 24X

Awesome

VisionTek Radeon HD 6870 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity 900338

Pros: Performs as expected.

Cons: I don't know if this was neweggs doing or the VisionTek. The antistatic paper seal placed over the antistatic back had been broken and a yellow plastic seal had been placed over it. I thought that was a little odd because other products that I have ordered from new egg were never like this. I took the GPU out of the bag and found that the edges of where you have to screw the card into the slots of my tower were bent, so I am assuming that this was returned based upon that and I received a returned product. This is the only reason I took an egg off. I managed to secure the GPU to my case, but I had to do a lot of adjusting to get it right and I should not have to do that for any kind of card I purchase whether it be high end or low.

Overall Review: It's not cheap plastic as another reviewer suggested it is very sturdy and durable material and neither is it ugly. The card is aesthetically pleasing to the eye for the minimalist. You buy a card for performance not for how pretty it is, that's just a marketing scheme.

Adequate

Scythe SCRT-1000 120mm Sleeve New High-End Top-Flow CPU Cooler

Pros: Easy to install

Cons: The PWM Band Adjustable Controller knob did not fit through my Antec nine hundred two case. I had to apply some force to get it through the slot and more than likely means that I will have to modify my first slot a bit to get it out. I don't overclock the components in my computer and the after market cooler that I replaced with this did a better job cooling my CPU. I just think that 45c is below average cooling at idle and I did not put it on improperly. I used arctic silver thermal paste. I thought I would be able to get better temps by the reviews already posted about it, but I also reversed the direction my fan is blowing on the cooler, so maybe that's the culprit. I will turn it around and see and then update this post.

Overall Review: This is huge and not that its a con, but if you have a top fan you will have to ensure that the wires don't get caught in the blades. I also recommend that if you have a mid-tower to install this while building your PC not after, because you will barely be able to seat it properly to the latches for an AMD processor. A flashlight or another person will be helpful in this situation. I had to move my memory sticks one slot back to leave the first slot open because the cooler extended over the 1 slot of the memory slots (FYI if you are building your pc, this should not be a problem having all 4 memory slots full because you will be able to maneuver the cooler better.)

For Joe Friday

ASUS M4A88TD-M/USB3 AM3 AMD 880G SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
ASUS M4A88TD-M/USB3 AM3 AMD 880G SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: I like the board. It was a great upgrade from my store bought HP from five years ago, which was an AMD pc.

Cons: When I installed the board I had no audio. I had to go to the ASUS site and download the update for the audio driver. Once I did that everything was fine and I got my sound back.

Overall Review: For Joe Friday: Go to the ASUS site and look up this motherboard for your system and it will list all of the updates that were issued after ASUS packaged your MOBO. Dowload the update for the Audio and this will fix your problem.
