Not the best quality.1/22/2009 10:56:05 AM

Pros: Cheap, burns slowly but with good results.

Cons: Blacktopped, which combined with the extremely low burn speed achieved, leads me to believe these were blacktopped by Ridata to cover up a slower speed marking than the 8x now marked. There are also multiple printing layers on the blacktop, including a white under print layer of random characters that can bee seen through the spindle portion.

Design problems.11/27/2006 10:21:43 AM

Pros: Nice small form factor, cord tucks into case completely.

Cons: This hub gets unreasonably hot for such a small hub, even when no loads are attached to it. The design also violates USB spec, it only provides 3.3v to USB devices. The spec requires 5V to all devices, so some devices will not work with this hub. Even adding an external power adapter will not help because its sourcing the USB bus voltage off an internal 3.3v regulator.

Overall Review: Its hard to believe a company like IOGear would release a hub with such obvious defects.

Comments: I've tried 3 kinds of small 54g USB plug ins and this one is the BEST of all of them, and the lowest price. I have two of these running 24/7 in a busy shop with WPA PSK enabled and not a single glitch!

Comments: Excellent quality and firmware is top notch, lite-on rules the cd/dvd drive universe.

Good item, but hot6/6/2005 1:54:50 PM

Comments: Newegg as always delivers fast good condition product. I'm using this hub 24/7 basically as a splitter for my mouse, x10 module, and 2 ports free for wandering items. My only complaint about this item is it seems to run very very hot... I'm not sure if this is a defect or just normal because its so small.
