Is What It Is

D-Link DES-1105 Unmanaged Desktop Switch
D-Link DES-1105 Unmanaged Desktop Switch

Pros: Cheap, Easy set-up, No dead ports, Compact

Cons: None

Overall Review: I needed extra ethernet connections behind my entertainment center for my blu-ray player, xbox 360, & eventually a PS3. This switch fit the bill for a very nice price. It will only cost ~ten after the mail-in-rebate. It easy to set up, requires no drivers, & is lightweight. Mine is secured to the back of my entertainment center with double-sided tape. My has 4 working ports. The led display does not intrude on my entertainment. It is what it is.

Most Critical Review

Easy 1000 Gamerpoints

Terminator: Salvation Xbox 360 Game
Terminator: Salvation Xbox 360 Game

Pros: Easy 1000 points

Cons: Awful Game

Overall Review: All of the bad reviews are true, this game is awful. However, it is an easy 1000 gamerpoints. There is a well published glitch for them. The AI is very dumb. The story is linear. There are no hidden items, multi-player, challenge, few weapons, friendly AI is almost useless, & this is just an awful game. Buy it used or rent it. If you buy it, plan on trading after a day or two, because that is about all the gameplay you will get from it.

Game of the Year IMO

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Xbox 360 Game
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Xbox 360 Game

Pros: Improved graphics, Longer Campaign, Immersive story, Spec Ops.

Cons: Needed a real cover system, occasional lag, weapons feel too "similar".

Overall Review: This is a very immersive game. I have spent most of my time playing Spec Ops. If you have a friend that compliments your playing style it is very intense & fun. That alone is what makes it a much better game than MW to me. The campaign is very good & does not have any significant "choke points" in it's action. The storyline is well written & there are some very good voice actors. I am a flanker & this game plays up well to that. The other characters love to move into front on combat. That would have been alright if there was a true cover system to allow better taget selection (would have cost some intensity). Again, there are enough movement options to allow some "tactical" planning. I have not been on multiplayer, so no comments there. I will eventually get to it after I am maxed out in Spec Ops. I believe those missions are great for skills improving. This is easily the best game of the year so far. It gave me a bigger rush than Prototype & that is hard to do.

Surpised it's not a top seller?

SUMDEX Black 10.6" Vertical Netbook Messenger Model NJD-783BK
SUMDEX Black 10.6" Vertical Netbook Messenger Model NJD-783BK

Pros: Layout, Plenty of compartments considering size, nice design, sturdy construction, decent padding, price.

Cons: Strap is sewn on, no handle on top, side logo, zippers are noisy while walking.

Overall Review: Overall, this is a very nice little netbook bag. I immediately covered this little side logo with black sharpie. It was not my taste. I have an Asus Eee PC 1005HA, along with n ASUS 08D1S optical drive. My Loadout-- Rear compartment optical drive, netbook in main compartment, Microsoft 3000 notebook mouse in zippered top compartment, along with the USB cord for the optical drive. The front compartment contains my usb flashdrive, earbuds, a microfiber cloth, an audio out cable, 2 heavy ink pens, & the power adapter for my netbook. Everything fits fine without any budges. Nothing is pressed for space & there is actually enough space to squeeze in a few more items up front. There is also a small compartment inside with the netbook that can hold small manuals, a couple cds/dvds or any other small flat items. I am very pleased, since my full-sized Targus Groove was too much for my needs. Other than my very picky cons, this bag is perfect. I am surprised it is not a top-seller.

Perfect....

Logitech Harmony 550 Advanced Universal Infrared Remote Control
Logitech Harmony 550 Advanced Universal Infrared Remote Control

Pros: Fully backlit, Good battery life, Support for a multitude of devices & this is a lower end Harmony!!!, Nearly unlimited commands & places to put them, Lcd & buttons next to it offer easy access to standard & advanced commands, Price (I paid $80)

Cons: Number pad is too small & awkwardly located, Volume & Channel buttons (same reasons), Set-up can be involved, not friendly for the technically challenged (involves set-up using a computer software interface & lots of tweaking)

Overall Review: My Vizio 47XVT had a terrible, unlit remote & I never placed stock in "do-it-all" multimedia remotes. I never knew what I was missing. This remote does it all. I currently have it controlling my Vizio, xbox 360, Samsung BD-P1600, & soon a 7.1 hd audio system. The Activities feature is very nice, one button turns on devices to be used, does input selection, & turns off devices not in use. Between the 4 devices I am using there was only 1 commands that I had to "teach" it from the OEM remotes. I consider myself to be technically inclined, but set-up can be very involved. For example, I had trouble gettin my hdtv to go to the proper input. The end result was adding end Activity commands to switch them. Overall, setup took me a couple of hours. That involved tweaking power delays, start-up sequences/delays, & some end activity tweaking for each of my 4 Activities. This remote is not for anyone who simply wants to enter a device code & call it soup. It is for a true control freak!!

Just Right

SAMSUNG Blu-ray Player BD-P1600
SAMSUNG Blu-ray Player BD-P1600

Pros: Easy to set-up & use, Netflix & Pandora, Load time relatively fast, BD-Live, usb ports, Costs is low considering features ($229)

Cons: Gets hot on the bottom, HDMI not included, WiFi capable but a dongle is not included & expensive, Using front usb port will block door from closing, Need 1gb flashdrive for BD-Live

Overall Review: Finally, the perfect mate to my 1080p, 120hz Hdtv!!! Setup only took a couple of minutes. It loads reasonably fast compared to other players I considered, even those significantly more expensive that I tested at local retailers. The menu is easy to navigate & settings are straightfoward. I had a Netflix account & Pandora is very nice. Both are easier to set up online & not with the player itself. So far it has played everything I've thrown at it. Upconverted dvds look as nice as those on my NS710S upconverting dvd player. There was not an hdmi cable in the box, & to go wireless a $70-80 proprietary dongle must be purchased. Using the wireless dongle (uses rear usb) would mean using the front usb for BD-Live memory thus, having the drive door 1/2 open at all times. I am using a 5-port switch for the 1600 & my Xbox 360. My only true complaint/concern is that this player tends to get very warm on it's bottom during operation. I have a 4 in. fan in my tv credenza to keep my toys coo
