Pros: These are very nice drives for the money. Relatively quiet and quite speedy for the money.

Cons: I purchased four of these to attach to ARECA 1231ML in RAID 5. The first shipment, one drive had physical damage - broken sata connector, due to bad packing. NewEgg promptly accepted RMA and sent replacement. The replacement drive, bubble wrap was 50% flat. Hitachi drive fitness test failed the drive after 2-3minutes. NewEgg just noitified me today, replacement is on it's way via UPS. The three drives have been cruising along with no issues. Hopefully, this drive will be well packed and survive, as i really need 2more TB.

Overall Review: I wish newegg would add a rating system for "newegg". That way we could separate the product from newegg. Since, this is a rating of the product only, I have to give it 5 Eggs! For "newegg", I have to give zero eggs for the shipping department, and five eggs for the RMA process.

Pros: These are inexpensive drives. They are relatively quiet and pleasingly quick. I own 5 of these with an ARECA Hardware RAID controller - RAID6. They are really fast with my 4GB Cache controller

Cons: I owned some DeathStar drives, years ago, so I was hesitant to take a chance. Thankfully, I configured in RAID 6 as I have had to return 2 drives for failure. NOW TIME FOR THE KICKER! I registered the drives, the day I received them from Newegg. When I registered, the statement was a 3year warranty. However, if I look up my warranty on Hitachi's Warranty Checker, they all state, 3years from the date of manufacture - NOT 3years from date of registration. For me, that means a 2yr 9month warranty. If you choose to buy these, look at the date of manufacture before accepting them. If they were made more than a month or wo, you are reallly losing out on your warranty. Now, these drives are listed as 5year warranties, however, I am skeptical. Previous to these latest Hitachi's, my last one was relaced under warranty two times, and the second replacement died 2 months outside the original drives two year warranty. Hitachi said, "Sorry, we'll give you a discount if you buy a new one." No

Overall Review: I've had better luck with both Seagate's and Western Digital's. My concern is now that WD bought Hitachi, what does that say about WD. I guess I'm headed back to Seagate. If you purchase, register your drive, then go back and check the Warranty status. It is from the date of manufacture, not registration date. They got me a second time, shame on me!

Pros: Excellent size, quiet, feature set. However, all the pro's are offset by the con (instability).

Cons: LG will only support drives that they have tested. PERIOD. I was using WD20EARS drives, which are 64MB cache version of the WD20EADS drives that are supported (same technology). I tested each drive using WD diagnostics prior to installing. Configured the system RAID1. Copied data from network to unit (17MB/sec standard, 30 MB/s jumbo frames). Shutdown power from the front panel to move to another room. I could no longer access the admin web menu so LG support recommmended reloading the system (requiring re-formatting the drives - all data must be reloaded, good thing I still had the data elsewhere). Long story short, system failed again requiring re-loading the environment. Tech Support stated the unit must be shutdown from the web admin menu. They state that repeated power-off from the front panel will corrupt the system. I'm OK with that, but then the web services must be rock-solid and they are not.

Overall Review: Esata port has limited usability, iscsi functionality is strictly for the CD/DVD and enabling iscsi makes the burner non-functional from the unit. i really wanted this to work but two failures that required re-formatting the drives, is unacceptable. I can state that LG support worked with me on troubleshooting and would've taken the unit on exchange under warranty but i chose to return to newegg as defective. Newegg RMA process was effective and efficient. I've been buying from newegg for years and only recently had two returns and both have been good experiences.

Pros: Good value and performance (replacement unit).

Cons: Received first set of memory for new build with MSI 890FX-GD70 motherboard. Had a difficult time with stability. Determined that both modules were failing. One module failed conistently, the other was sporadic. Contacted newegg and received a prompt RMA, so no addtional charges to me. It was unfortunate that I had to spend so much time troubleshooting defective hardware. The replacement modules ran overnight with memtest, without error. Passmark Burnin for another night, with success. I feel comfortable with them now.

Overall Review: Memory rating a 3/5, for being good after getting replacement modules. Newegg RMA was efficient 4 or 5.

Pros: This is a nice enclosure and seems to be built nicely. It comes with all the cables and connectors. SWEET!

Cons: I ordered two of these and they both came without the screws shown in the picture.
