Awesome Board

ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Easy Install. First time using an Intel System. gorgeous board. LED display lets you know whats up when something goes astray. (even though nothing did) CLR CMOS button is useful when overclocking. Got my i5 up to 4.8. It can go higher, but I'm not a fan of ramping volts to high just to get above 5.0ghz. Paired with 16gig Ripjaws 1600mhz works awesome.

Cons: little flimsy ?? i cant really find anything wrong with the board.

Overall Review: When changing the BCLK and then saving and restarting the bios, the system completely shutsdown, and then about 5 seconds latter restarts. i thought it wasn't booting, but i guess that's standard protocol when changing the BCLK. Since when changing multiplier it doesn't do that, i thought i was in trouble. But everything was good =] i5 2500k 4.8ghz 5970 875/1200 16gig Ripjaws 1600 650w Antec PSU

Excellent Budget Z690 Board - But...

ASUS Prime Z690-P D4 LGA 1700 Intel 12th Gen ATX Motherboard- PCIe 5.0, DDR4, 14+1 Power Stages, 3x M.2, 2.5Gb LAN, V-M.2 e-key, Front Panel USB 3.2 Gen 1 USB Type-C, Thunderbolt 4 Support, Arua Sync
ASUS Prime Z690-P D4 LGA 1700 Intel 12th Gen ATX Motherboard- PCIe 5.0, DDR4, 14+1 Power Stages, 3x M.2, 2.5Gb LAN, V-M.2 e-key, Front Panel USB 3.2 Gen 1 USB Type-C, Thunderbolt 4 Support, Arua Sync

Pros: Board performs well, lots of options for storage and RGB headers, even though I don't use RGB. My 12600k can pull 150+ watts while only using the 8 pin header without the auxiliary 4 pin connector attached. ASUS suite of tools and monitoring is much improved over the years (my last board was a Z270 from ASUS). Overclocking and adjusting voltages within Windows is a nice feature to have, and is a breeze with this Mobo.

Cons: -Limited flashiness with the design and lighting could be a Con to some, but it doesn't really bother me. -Included accessories are a little lacking -No right angle SATA ports. -ATX standoff mounts near the 24 pin main connector could be better. The USB Gen 3.2 Type C connector is in the exact location a fastener could go, but the PCB layout engineer decided to put the connector there. Not a huge deal but attaching the 24 pin cable requires force and you see some flex when attaching the connector. -Biggest Con is the quality: 1) I can't use the rear I/O shield due to a nasty bend in the PCB. The top USB and PS2 ports are obstructed if I use the shield. So now my build must go shield-less since I need access to those top two USB ports. 2) Board shipped in with multiple rips and tears in the ESD bag. The heatsinking on the VRMS punctured the ESD bag and even dug into the cardboard in multiple locations.

Overall Review: Decent board and gets the job done. Although I am disappointed since I have had relatively good experiences with ASUS in the past. The rear I/O bend condition is a first for me. I guess IPC specifications and requirements for Class I hardware were ignored for this lot of PCBs. I shouldn't complain though since the board works flawlessly. I am just worried about future reliability. You get what you pay for.

Pros: Works great. Memtested good. XMP profile worked right out of the box. 1.5v is awesome.

Cons: nada

Amazing Upgrade

DIAMOND Radeon HD 5970 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card A5970PE52G

Pros: Coming from an HD 4890 to this is just completely outstanding. From 1280x720 Medium in BF3 to 1920x1080 perfect 60fps Ultra. Maxes every game i have. Overclocks to 875mhz both cores with Afterburnner. So simple to overclock its crazy.

Cons: Can't have AA in BF3 while texture settings are on ultra, dropping them down to high allows you to have 2x AA. (due to 1gb frame buffer) No biggie though.

Overall Review: i5 2500k at 4.8ghz 5970 at 875/1200 16gb Ripjaws 1600mhz =D im set for awhile
