Good Card

Pros: Good card. Works great in linux with vdpau it offloads mpeg2 and mpeg4 decoding to the GPU so now I get 15% CPU usage while playing HD H264 video.
Cons: There was a problem with the delivery but newegg fixed the issue and I thank them for that.
Overall Review: Guys and Gals do not worry about 60C temps. This card is made to handle almost 2 times that (115C) so 60C is actually low.
Works well in linux. with the kernel xhci driver

Pros: I needed this so I could get good performance with my 4TB Hitachi external drive on my Q9550 system that I run Mythtv. The card runs fine with the xhci driver that is built-in to the linux kernel. In my case I have tested it with a 3.8.X kernels only.
Cons: none yet.
Nearly 140MB/s STR in outer tracks

Pros: The 667GB platters really make this drive fast for a 5400 RPM drive. I am getting 130 to 140MB/s in the outer tracks on HTTrack and in linux dd. This is as fast as my 1TB WD black drives. They do have slower seeks than the black drives however but that is understandable and the lower power usage is worth it for my usage.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: The drive is cool and quiet. After my initial order of 2 of these I added a third because I liked them so much.
Good performance

Pros: Since it has 500GB platters the performance is good. Not WDC black good but better than 7200 RPM drives from 2008 even though it is a 5XXX rpm drive.
Cons: The advanced formatting is annoying because the drive uses 4K sectors but reports it is using 512 byte sectors. I assume this is to handle operating systems that can not handle sector sizes that are not 512. This made it more difficult to properly partition under linux but I got the job done.
Fast Drive

Pros: These drives are significantly faster than current generation 7200 RPM SATA drives. These also because they are 2.5 inch drives instead of 3.5 inch drives they use less power than 7200 RPM 3.5 inch drives. Less than 6W idle versus around 10W for your typical 7200 rpm drive. I have verifyed this with a "Kill A Watt".
Cons: Price.
Overall Review: I was waiting for SSDs to come down in price but at the current capacity point the $200 models are way too small for my usage. That is why opted for the velociraptor. After installing it in my development box at work I was amazed by the performance improvement in my compiles. With the previous drive my parallel compiles tended to be IO bound. Now with this drive the cpu is pegged all the time and the compiles several finish minutes quicker. As a result I have purchased more of these for different applications in the department.
Works great

Pros: I used this on a dual processor Opteron server to replace 2 power supplies that were needed to power the 18 hard drives the system has. One of them died kicking 7 drives out of a 10 drive raid 6 array. Now with only 1 supply I will not have this issue.
Cons: It's huge and difficult to fit the drives that are directly across from the power supply. Also I wish there were more than 3 sata connectors on each of modular cables 5 or 6 would have been great.
Overall Review: Well even 2 processors and 18 hard drives I did not need anywhere near this power but I bought it more for the # of cables. However with the new extended power I may add 1/2 dozen more drives to the system.
