Excellent Computer

DELL Desktop PC i3847-5386BK Intel Core i5-4460 12GB DDR3 1TB HDD Intel HD Graphics Windows 8.1 64-Bit
DELL Desktop PC i3847-5386BK Intel Core i5-4460 12GB DDR3 1TB HDD Intel HD Graphics Windows 8.1 64-Bit

Pros: Unit works! (Note: This is a third purchase. The first two units, which were not Dell, were DOA.) The computer is quite and boots quickly, and let me reiterate, "It works."

Cons: The computer comes with a lot of "bloatware". Apparently, this is a fact of life regardless of brand. A good "uninstaller" software package is required. Unfortunately, Windows uninstaller is inadequate for the task. Keyboard is trash. Why not give a $1 discount offer for the computer less keyboard.

System Failure

ASUS Desktop PC M32AD-US002Q Intel Core i3 4150 (3.50 GHz) 8 GB DDR3 1 TB HDD Intel HD Graphics 4400 Shared memory Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit
ASUS Desktop PC M32AD-US002Q Intel Core i3 4150 (3.50 GHz) 8 GB DDR3 1 TB HDD Intel HD Graphics 4400 Shared memory Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit

Pros: Looks OK, quiet.

Cons: As info, before I place a computer into operational use, I verify that a fully functional backup and restore operation is in place. On arrival, this computer would not boot to safemode and would not perform a system image and restore. The image process appeared to proceed OK but the computer would not reboot to complete the restore process. In fact, the computer would "hang-up" and would not accept commands from any device (e.g., keyboard or mouse). The only recovery option was to perform a "Hard Kill" using the power button. Contacted ASUS tech support, and per their tech support, the system had been infected with a virus that entered the system via email and this virus prevented the system from booting in the safemode!!! (I had the system for approximately 3-days and never got past working on a backup and restore process.) Only "1" email had been opened on the system and that email resulted from ASUS hounding me to setup a cloud storage system with ASUS. So, if a virus entered the system via email ASUS sent it, period. As info, a scan with McAfee anti-virus, which was installed, indicated NO virus. ASUS wanted $199.xx for a best effort to remove the virus--no guarantee. The system would have to be returned to them at my expense. Bottomline, ASUS has top billing on my "never-buy" list.

Overall Review: Many thanks to Newegg. The system was returned for refund, no problem what-so-ever, and a replacement system (non-ASUS) was ordered from Newegg.

Pros: It works! Great device. Comes with interconnecting cable and is simple to use. A great product at a great price.

Cons: This is not really a con, but it does not look the greatest. But who cares, it does the job and that is important.
