FTDI - Usually out of the box compatible with Windows

Sabrent USB 2.0 to Serial (9-Pin) DB-9 RS-232 Adapter Cable 6ft Cable with Hexnut connectors (SBT-FTDI)
Sabrent USB 2.0 to Serial (9-Pin) DB-9 RS-232 Adapter Cable 6ft Cable with Hexnut connectors (SBT-FTDI)

Pros: The FTDI chipset works. Others will make you start doing the driver chase. And if you have a corporate laptop, out of the box plug and play can make your day easier. The 6 foot cable works pretty well with some rack scenarios. If you are using a serial 9 pin to RJ-45 extender, you definitely now easy reach.

Cons: People borrow mine.

Overall Review: If you do network or security hardware work, you want one of this in your mobile kit.

Since 2004 and finally showing wear

Sennheiser HD280 Pro Around the Ear DJ Headphones
Sennheiser HD280 Pro Around the Ear DJ Headphones

Pros: I have used these as my audio monitors videoing live marching bands at the field level. The isolation is great. These are also the only piece of equipment I own that you can hear and understand the "Serenity Prayer" inside Boston's song "Higher Power". Pretty good. The cord is a pro, not a con. It is long, so it can seem to get in the way, but if you are working on camera and need to grab something in a bag or just roll back at your desk, it has give.

Cons: OK, the negative in the cord is that it does have some spring in the coiling. Just got these in your phone to listen to music? You can capapult launch it off your desk if you get to far away.

Overall Review: I noticed that my headband padding was finally starting to wear out last week. Was up here looking at replacing these or for parts. While these are very bulking and you might not look 'fashionable', they are an excellent tool.
