Great Drives

Seagate NAS HDD ST4000VN000 4TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive
Seagate NAS HDD ST4000VN000 4TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive

Pros: Caught this on a Shell shocker at $135 a drive and picked up three to replace three 2TB WD Green drives that had vastly exceeded their life-span load counts. That's a lot of space at a very reasonable price especially given that its rated for NAS. I tested each drive with Seagate Tools thoroughly and found no issues what so ever. I transferred the data from the 2TB drives over about 6 hours each which seemed pretty reasonable for the amount of data.

Cons: None so far.

Insten Black Car Dashboard 360-degree Swivel Phone Holder compatible with the New Apple? iPhone? 5
Insten Black Car Dashboard 360-degree Swivel Phone Holder compatible with the New Apple? iPhone? 5

Pros: Inexpensive Holds the phone in place just fine

Cons: Had a hard time getting the two sticky mats on Doesn't seem to stick to my dash very well Angle isn't great as the sun reflects badly off my screen

Overall Review: I bought this more as proof of concept to see if I wanted to put my phone or a GPS on the dash. It works. Its nothing great, but then it also didn't cost much

Great Card, Great Service

Ceton InfiniTV 4 PCIe - Quad-tuner Card for Watching Digital Cable TV on the PC, PCI-Express x1 Interface
Ceton InfiniTV 4 PCIe - Quad-tuner Card for Watching Digital Cable TV on the PC, PCI-Express x1 Interface

Pros: 4 Tuners, ability to share tuners to other PC's. Easy installation and set up. Fantastic customer support. Savings - only on-going cost is the $2 rental fee for the CableCard

Cons: Some parts are a little fragile Have had some issues with the card losing connectivity and having to go through setup again (see below) Price - high up front cost

Overall Review: Had this card since March. Had some installation problems on my HTPC with it. Something I had previously installed for 7MC was conflicting with it and I spent hours trying to get the CableCard to pair. I finally rebuilt the HTPC and installed the InfiniTV as soon as all the updates to Win7 were done. That time, installation was less than 10 minutes. I've had two issues with the card, but both times Ceton has been outstanding: 1) The connector on the card for the co-axial dongle is pretty fragile. It snapped off when I disconnected it. Ceton replaced the card at no cost to me though within about 3 days, even responding to the original service request at 11PM on a Saturday night! 2) I've been experiencing where 7MC loses the binding to the card. I get a 'No tuner available' error. The fix has been to go back through all the setup. After having to do this 3 times, I contacted Ceton and they have issued me some beta fw/hw/sw updates that they think will fix it.

Great Drive, Great Price

Fantom Drives GreenDrive Pro 2TB USB 2.0 / eSATA 3.5" External Hard Drive GDP2000EU

Pros: Fantastic Drive. Using it for an HTPC and have had no problems running even 720p video from it.

Cons: None.

Very nice with a few hiccups

hec Black 0.7mm Thickness SECC Steel 7KJ9 Micro ATX Media Center / HTPC Case w/270W Power Supply

Pros: I was looking for a low profile case to replace the 'cube' I was previously using for my HTPC. It's got a great look, and just enough room for everything you need in an HTPC. The door covering the USB ports is thick enough that you can't see in, but thin enough that I put the receiver for my Lenovo Wireless Keyboard N5901 inside and even with the cover closed, the N5901 works perfectly. Going to try putting my IR receiver from the remote in next.

Cons: Virtually no documentation. Not that it needs much being a case, but I removed the power supply to get the hard drive in and then realized when I went to put the optical drive in that you could remove the front. Additionally, the power connector from most motherboards will end up under the optical drive, making it a long stretch of the cord and an awkward angle to get it in. Biggest complaint is that the power supply only comes with a single SATA power connector. Thankfully I had a spare adapter, but no excuse for only having one SATA power connector on a case built in the past 2 years.
