Good
Pros: Works well, value is good, Will buy another when ready.
Cons: Menu on monitor is difficult to use.
Overall Review: Built in speakers have never worked - who needs speakers in a monitor?
I'm so sorry, we don't carry the product we sell.
Pros: This is a follow up on my first review "Heavy Machinery" What I got has good. Now the rest of the story.
Cons: This is what I got from kensington when I asked how to get the two missing pieces. Dear Richard: Thank you for contacting Kensington Technical Support. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused. We would like to inform you that, Kensington does not manufacture these parts separately for sales or replacement. In this regard, we would suggest you to contact the vendor and get the unit replaced. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused. For any further assistance please feel free to reply back to this email or you may want to call us on our toll-free number 1800-535-4242, Mon - Fri 07:30 am to 04:30 pm PST.
Overall Review: My response: Thank You for responding to my request. I am sorry to hear Kensington does not support the products they sell. This is a very poor business practice on the part of Kensington. I will no longer buy a product that I know is associated with, or is a product of Kensington. I had written a glowing review about the quality of your product that I will now have to amend to include the statement from you, that Kensington does not offer support for their products. If you can get the parts to assemble a product - you can _____ well get the parts that were not included in your retail box.
Oh well
Pros: It was cheap. It was white. hmmm. Did I mention it was cheap? Oh yea, it come preloaded with all manner of "books". Too bad the are only short, and I mean Short books.
Cons: Quirky little bugger. I bought it for my 90 year old mother who is still sharp but deaf and her eyesight has gotten to the point she can't read without effort. Thought this would help her. I would put a bunch of books on it for her and send it. No instructions worth reading. It is all on the net. I got confused by the menus, no way my mother will ever be able to use it. Choice of two fonts - poor and bad - blah. Have not been able to load a book to the 4 gig card I installed. I think there is room for one.
Overall Review: It could be I just got a bad one. But the Instructions! It took 30 minutes to figure out how to turn it on. Reread the instructions - all fifty words maybe more - and it said "turn on device" but not how to. You must push and hold the tiny tenie little flat button on the bottom for three seconds - and then wait. Eventually it comes on. If you have ever reset your modem, and liked doing it - this is for you. I think I heard my laptop laugh when I plugged it in. might have imagine it.
I like it
Pros: It is small and sturdy and works. Heavy feel that I prefer and a touch pad that doesn't make you fell like you are doing hand exercises it is so smooth. I can now sit in my recliner and use my 52 inch wide-screen as a monitor - does not get any better than that. I often spend 16 hours writing and I bought this so when my back gives out and I'm on a roll, I can kick back and keep writing. It is from newegg - no worries there.
Cons: The keys take getting used to. I normally do not like any keys that are right next to the Backspace/enter/shift keys but when typing in my recliner it doesn't seem to be a problem - my elbows rest on the sides of the recliner and it gives me more control. At least I think this is the reason - whatever - it works this way best. It has an extremely senitive touchpad which makes it not such a great desktop board.
Overall Review: I would not recommend this as a primary desktop board. That is like asking for the moon for the price of cheap touch-pad desktop board.
Caution - heavy machinery
Pros: I was suprised at the industrial quatily of the arm and slide mechanism. Heavy steel and very strong springs - automotive quality. A real buy.
Cons: It was missing the side pieces for the keyboard pad. I am going to replace the supplied board, but I might not have if all the pieces had come with it. Oh yea, don't be tempted to play with the spring mounting mechanism like I was, it will pinch the fire out of you fingers before it is mounted. The instructions were pictures and little else.
Overall Review: I have not contacted Newegg about the side pieces. They have always gone the extra mile for me. Newegg has THE BEST costumer service on the planet.
Better than Good
Pros: This case is the baby brother of the full tower Chieftec I bought and this mid tower has all the same features. The description does not do justice to this machine. It has features that are not mentioned and were a pleasant surprise. It is a joy to work with. The quality is outstanding.
Cons: The directions were on one sheet of paper with mine. The only drawback is it has too much ventilation! It is actually necessary to block off some of the vents to create a turbine affect over the motherboard - hardly a con.
Overall Review: I wanted big and sturdy and I was not disappointed! I have wheels on mine.
