Awesome first SSD
Pros: On anecdotal feel alone, roughly 2x as fast as my former 7200 rpm drive. Loading screens on games are about halved (but not anywhere near instant), however, menus within Windows 7 are very fast and instant compared to the second or two my 7200 rpm drive took to load directories. Overall a very nice upgrade from traditional drives and I am satisfied with my purchase.
Cons: -1 egg because of packaging and drive is not "mind blowing" as people make it seem. Windows 7 took a while to install, the "unpacking files" portion took 15 - 20 minutes alone.
Overall Review: Purchased this to "upgrade" my Sager 8130 laptop. I think where these other reviewers are having problems: 1. Using this drive with older components/OS 2. Not optimizing options within Windows/bios for the SSD. If you are planning to use this with a modern motherboard and windows 7, and take the steps of disabling power saving modes, ensuring TRIM is enabled, turn on AHCI mode on first boot up via BIOS, and other tricks found in SSD installation guides online, you should be 98% OK with this model. If you have yet to try out a SSD, this is the one to go with. Decent size, price, and no sandforce firmware nonsense to mess with.
Good
Pros: -It's not a bad buy considering price:performance. - Have a spare computer or parts in the closet? Bust em out, spend 200 clams on an A10, mobo, and ddr3, and BOOM!, you have a fun little htpc or something to compliment your laptop.
Cons: - Memory dependent.
Overall Review: I bought this as an upgrade, up from an X2 6000+ and a cheapie GT430. It's an improvement but just barely.
Good
Pros: - Fits next to a large CPU cooler. - Runs at advertised ratings
Cons: - Had to manually set speed and voltage in BIOS. - - 5.9 WEI - They shipped this memory through DHL, and they transferred the package to USPS half way. My package took over a week for "3 day shipping".
Overall Review: I was worried this memory was a bad buy, some people gave poor reviews. Also, it's price was almost too good to be true! Works at 1866 with my new A10 Trinity, just dont forget to set everything to factory specs in BIOS.
