Great value

Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 - Core 2 Duo Wolfdale Dual-Core 2.66 GHz LGA 775 Processor - BX80571E7300
Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 - Core 2 Duo Wolfdale Dual-Core 2.66 GHz LGA 775 Processor - BX80571E7300

Pros: Great bang for the buck, great at overclocking. I got this to 3.20 GHz (320MHz FSB) using the stock cooler and the voltage bumped up to 1.184V, peaking at 63 celsius with small FFTs in prime95. I could get it higher (tried 333MHz FSB with 1.2V) but the temps would just start peaking over 65, so there is plenty of room if you get a better cooler. Using stock (auto) voltage I got it to 310 MHz FSB. The heatsink is also nice and quiet, maxing out at 2400 rpm under full load.

Cons: None. It's a processor and it processes.

Overall Review: This processor is a part of some nice combo deals. I got it with a P5Q SE Plus motherboard.

Great value

SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4830 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card 100265HDMI

Pros: Great value, good budget solution for playing modern games. Core heatsink+fan works great, can overclock core to 700 MHz (maxes out the catalyst control center) and the fan is relatively quiet and adjustable with drivers.

Cons: The memory has no cooling, so if you do not have good air circulation in that area of your case you shouldn't expect much of an overclock there. I can get a paltry 25 MHz overclock on the memory with practically NO circulation, and it's very easy to feel the amount of heat around the memory area while it's running. Apparently it is capable of much more if you have a fan to push the heat away.

Overall Review: Ran at 1680x1050 Crysis runs fine with settings mostly maxed and shadows at medium and no AA. Fallout 3 works great maxed out with AA enabled (the framerate can dip sometimes with 4xAA but it doesn't affect gameplay) I had to upgrade my power supply to 500W, my old 430W didn't have enough juice on the +12V rail and that was causing restarts in some games. The rebate takes a long time for them to process and send. It arrived six weeks after other rebates I sent at the same time.

G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F1-3200PHU2-2GBNS
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F1-3200PHU2-2GBNS

Pros: Decided to upgrade to 2GB for games with large environments (check if your commit charge in task manager is ever greater than the physical RAM you have.) I am using an ASUS A7N8X deluxe rev 2.0 board and this RAM worked immediately, and seemed to insert easier than my old ram (they are slightly shorter.) Went from 1GB of Crucial PC2700 clocked @ 169 MHz which had a score of 1138/2329 MB/s write/read in aida32. This ram clocked at 205 MHz scored 1234/2947 MB/s.

Cons: none yet

Overall Review: Shipping was on time with UPS 3 day, got it on sale with $30 off and free shipping which was nice.
