Reasonable Expectation Result In Solid Solutions.
Pros: It Works. It's Shiny. Adjustable fan bracket.
Cons: It's not the benevolent spiritual master of all time, space, and dimension.
Overall Review: Look. It's a cooler. For it's price, design, and intention, an excellent one at that. Keeps my Ryzen 1800X at around 34 at idle and have yet to get beyond 72 under heavy load. So it does it's job. And it fits the factory AM4 fan mount. So I'm happy. Until some of the other manufacturers and designs can catch up with discreet AM4 brackets. I'm just fine with this little workhorse. Buy it for what it is and you will be happy. Buy it for what you think it SHOULD be, and you will be disappointed.
Excellent Cooler! ... But ... No Ryzen Support Yet!
Pros: Keeps the power caps cool too. (None of it's competition can say that.) Handles CPU cooling as well as the rest of them. White fan blades work well in most "lighting" schemes.
Cons: Little "bulkier" than its competition. Little noisier than its competition. No RGB. (For those that like that sorta thing even if I don't.)
Overall Review: Had to buy an Air Cooler to hold me over till Cryorig gets their Ryzen bracket figured out. :( Sure I could go with a competitor who already has it, but I don't mind waiting a LITTLE while to stick with a cooler I've found to be pretty impressive. But, if they take too long, I'll be shopping for an alternative. I'll change it to 5 eggs once I can use it on my Ryzen rig. Update: They finally got the AM4 bracket in my hands. I promised 5 eggs once it was running on my Ryzen rig. And now that I've had it in there for a while, its worth more than 5 eggs, but that's all that I can give it. ;)
Fair Value. Nice Look. Fantastic Ergonomic Design.
Pros: Looks good. Solid Side Window. Well Ventilated. 280MM Radiator Support.
Cons: Top mount only accommodates a 280mm Radiator if you don't use the external 5.25 bays. No rubber grommets on cable management holes. "Pinhole" Reset. Included fans are NOT RGB. ( For those that are into that sort of thing. )
Overall Review: I was thinking it was a bit overpriced, but that is an opinion, and as I progressed my opinion changed. By the end it worked out very well for me. PSU cover greatly benefits visual appeal as well as organization. 2.5 quick change drive mounts are awesome. Easy to access and utilize. Over all ergonomics for the space available is top notch. PSU cover is nice, but if you have a longer PSU, the space available for cables is a bit cramped by the internal 5.25 drive bays. I figured it out but your mileage may vary. I had originally intended on mounting a 280MM water cooler in the top of this case, but generally speaking it won't fit if you are planning on using the two 5.25 external drive bays. Good news is it fits in the front radiator mount location just fine, so no harm no foul. Any use of the external 5.25 bays will effect your use of the front 140MM/120MM fan space of the top mount. I mounted a fan in the rear top mount but the front mount is pretty much not usable. In my case, my BDR drives block most access to it. Might be able to squeeze a "low profile" fan in there but it would be cramped and in reality airflow would be highly restricted anyways. Who knows, with a little more investigation and finesse, I might be able to work something out. o.O It comes with 3 140MM LED fans. The only drawbacks to the fans is that they are NOT PWM, and for those that care they are NOT RGB. Lights aren't particularly my thing, but for those that care it has em. My concern is more with performance of the equipment than the appearance. But even then the fans are effective and quiet, so the LED's are just some bling for the buck. Come's with filters. One in the front for your cooling solution and one at the bottom for the PSU. I prefer liquid cooling in a pull config. Makes the radiator easier to clean. So with the filter in the front it will be an added benefit to keep the radiator tidy. I had to do a little more with this case than most will care about in the interest of personal preference; The HD LED lead goes to a front panel LED located just above the external 5.25 bays. In my opinion this should be wired as the POWER LED. So I rewired it. ;) The dual front panel LED's are wired to a PSU plug so essentially become your POWER LED's. In my opinion these should be your HD LED's. So I rewired it. ;) But isn't that was custom building is all about? :P For me this case has it all where it counts. And the price isn't nearly a "concern" when the over all abilities and design are fully investigated and utilized. In the end for me it actually became more of a value once I took advantage of all its features. Overall, for the midtower size of this case, it is laid out VERY well. The placement of items allows for many more accessories than the dimensions would suggest. I would certainly purchase it again.
The Unknown Contender. Unexpectedly Impressive.
Pros: Solid & Reliable. Fills all the essential needs. Pleasant performer. Value!
Cons: Not quite as many features as competition. Software Utilities are a little chincy. It's RGB. Unless you are into that sorta thing.
Overall Review: I must admit, I had originally purchased this board just to hold me over until I could get my hands on a "elite" board. But now that its installed and in use. I am seriously impressed. This board is actually an excellent value. I've had zero issues with it from day one and its performing very well. I was able to run my Ryzen 1800X at 4.0Ghz very easily and reliably with a basic air cooler. Now that I've had a chance to get to know the board I don't really have any reason to look for an alternative. I think I will just stick with this little wolf in sheeps clothing. It's almost too bad. This board is a much better product than it is given credit for. Biostar might need to step up the advertising for it to get the word out. Who would of thought I was going to get a solid board from what is normally considered the bargain selection. Well done Biostar.
It was almost exactly what I was looking for.
The ONLY part that it doesn't have is support for a 280MM Radiator in the top (if you have any interest in using the top 5.25 drive bay anyway). But they don't advertise it as being able to either. Other than that it was everything I was looking for. Looks good, works good. If you want a midcase it certainly fits the bill. Shop around and get what is pleasing to you. For the price there are many options that are equal to this one. I bought this one solely on it looked the best of the ones that had the features I wanted.
