Beats thinkpad X240.
Pros: 1080P IPS; Seriously one of the most beautiful screens I've seen on a laptop this small. Beats the pants off the IPS in my X230. Gorilla glass 3 Comes with Intel 1500 pro SSD Awesome keyboard. Not X220 or X230 level, but awesome and feedback-y. Thinkpad muscle memory works with the n!pple mouse. Great touchpad. Real buttons! Fantastic build quality. magnesium alloy top and bottom. Between that and the gorilla glass, I don't think it's possible to easily damage the screen on these. NO WIFI WHITELIST. I installed a generic Intel 7260 AC. HSA Boots from SD (a feature I thought died when everything went PCIe). Can drive two external monitors AND the internal one. 3 year stock warranty. Service panel comes off with no screws, making wifi/ram/HDD upgrades a breeze. Pretty solid ubuntu support. Upward firing speakers. Tiny AC adapter 5 hour battery. Good for 3 cells in an ultrabook chassis. Benchmarks after adding ram for dual-channel mode; 3dmark11: 1100~ Unigine Heaven: 11.1 FPS @ 768p, medium shaders, normal tessellation, no AA The only 12.5" gaming machine you can really get right now.
Cons: Proprietary dock port. There's no excuse not to have a standard AMD dockport here. Single-channel ram config. You'll want to add a 4gb stick to unlock almost double the gaming performance. Bonehead move from HP here. (nevermind that 8gb should be the bare minimum in a laptop of this cost. Ram is cheap.) Glossy touchscreen. Loud fan in performance mode. No worse than usual, but louder than X230.
Overall Review: If you liked the DV6, you'll love this. If you liked thinkpads before they were ruined by the *40 series, you'll find a home here. I really hope HP can continue this trend.
Good for penetration testing.
Pros: Supports monitor mode and packet injection in Backtrack 6 (Kali). Range is poor, but for as small as this is, it goes well with conducting low profile penetration testing in places where it may be a bad idea to be seen with large antenna sticking out of your laptop or tablet.
Cons: Range. Runs very hot. Use caution removing from USB slot after prolonged packet activity.
Overall Review: Needed something that could stick out the back of a laptop without breaking off in strange situations AND support packet injection in linux. works a charm
Pros: Very nice laptop, better than T400 preceding it. GPU is twice as fast as T400 ATI GPU NINE CELL (see below) battery lasts 5 hours max
Cons: Terrible screen. If this is a major concern, get a fruitier laptop as they use very nice screens. This item contains everything pictured. Meaning, a NINE CELL battery, not a six cell, as listed. Also, the 9-cell, on this model, is in the TABOOK as having a 5 hour battery life. And that matches my observation. DOES NOT GET THE ADVERTISED 6.5 HOUR BATTERY LIFE. (only the non-nvidia model with a 6 cell will) it also has a TWO megapixel camera, not a 1.3.
Overall Review: Newegg needs to stop with false advertising.
