Beware any Pci-e 2.0 boards

EVGA GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card 512-P3-N841-A3
EVGA GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card 512-P3-N841-A3

Pros: Great card, runs at reasonable temps (given factory expectations)

Cons: PCI-E 2.0 + old VIA boards = Hell. Had a GT, and after trying to figure out why it wouldn't work, heard of issues with an Asrock board with same symptoms I was getting. Told EVGA tech support, said it was unrelated and board was DOA. Return it at my cost, and have to now reorder this GTS (GT out of stock). Same thing. Call back tech support, NOW they aggree with me, it's a via pci issue. So I need to flash the board down to slower PCI-E 1.0. I wait 3 days to get this from them. Flash it and it works. So I had money out for 2 cards, shipping return for DOA of first, and waiting for new downgraded bios, about 2 weeks from first order until I have working card.

Overall Review: BOOO to the first tech guy I talked to at EVGA. If I can spend 10 minutes on google to find out about this issue, he should certainly know before hand. He is tech support for EVGA video cards, you'd think they would be better informed on issues with their latest and greatest products that they are paid to know in and out. I lost money and time cause he didn't.

Problems with Video

EVGA 132-CK-NF78-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
EVGA 132-CK-NF78-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Great board other than below

Cons: Go to evga community forums, read 780i forum, the "graphics or sth" thread. The nvidia 7 boards seem to mostly have issues with video playback. No problems in games or elsewhere for me, but video corruption/lockup error is a big minus. over a month and still no fix/response from evga/nvidia.

Overall Review: if you care about video playback or editing, I suggest reading up on the issue before buying. See if it's been fixed/resolved yet first.

Pretty much the negatives are dead on

PLANTRONICS GameCom 367 Closed-ear 3.5mm Circumaural Stereo Headset
PLANTRONICS GameCom 367 Closed-ear 3.5mm Circumaural Stereo Headset

Pros: Good sound for the price

Cons: This applies to the 367 AND 377. 1. Headband over time will crack. Not if, but when. Unless you have an amazingly small head. The headset is large, and hefty, so it maintains on your head from the pressue of the sides clamping on, and the expansion slots for both sides are the weak point. My first set broke after about 3 months, and it just gets worse, to the point one side is hanging by the internal wiring. 2. Because of this pressure used to hold the set on, you will be uncomfortable, just a matter of how much based on your headsize and shape, and how accustomed you are to that pressure. Also the padding will most likely be hot after time, I know it is for me after a little time. 3. In Line Volume failure. Again, not a matter of if, but when. As others have pointed out, when it starts to fail, adjusting volume sounds will cut out between left and right, and much cracking hissing. On my now second set, the left is prominent and mostly just the right cuts out, and started 4 months i

Overall Review: This set reminds me of the Game Com 1's. Those were a great set at an excellent price, BUT, always had issue with the weak wiring points at the inline volume. I went through 4 or more Game Com 1's. The longest lasting one was about 8 months, the shortest about a month before that failure. It's almost like they build in these shortcomings for sales...? In either case, after this current set goes, spending the extra and trying Senn.

Sigh

Seagate BarraCuda 7200.11 ST3750330AS 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Seagate BarraCuda 7200.11 ST3750330AS 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: large capacity

Cons: Defective. Installed unit, partition and quick format. Started to clone a 500gb and got a list of errors in Acronis. Tested using "Seatools" and got fail on all 4 tests (long and short generic and data tests). Could not low level format. No clunking noises, but ran SUPER hot, which I'm not sure is a result of extended reading from errors/damaged platters. Did not trip any SMART readings. Waiting for replacement.

Overall Review: If replacement isn't flawless, I will have to assume Seagate and or newer high capacity drives have a higher defective ratio. Had to pay for shipping return, because I didn't speak to a rep before RMA (used RMA link direct). Customer service still great, but learned when returning items to always talk to a rep first.

Great case if you know what to expect

COOLER MASTER Stacker 830 RC-830-SSN3-GP Silver Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case
COOLER MASTER Stacker 830 RC-830-SSN3-GP Silver Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Plenty of room to work with. All the tooless procedures available. Finish was nice on the metal panels. Stock fans are low noise level. Plenty of air flow for stock components.

Cons: Plastic plate at top front, will no doubt gets scratched easily. Whole thing is kinda flimsy, as a result of it being tooless and all detachable (used to build quality of Lian Li).Usb ports on front aren't lined up to well in regards to case, have to guide and push in usb devices, and the board the connectors are attached to wiggle from behind plastic case.

Overall Review: It is LARGE. I read it was huge, but going from a mid tower to full, you still don't consider that much bigger as this is. Very deep, putting it under desk it reaches past front of desk. It took me a while to figure out the extra plastic frame is an interchangeable dock for Raptor X drives to be placed at top of case where an empty 120mm fan bracket is, and molex/leds that come extra plug into that extra bracket to light up raptor X drive. Not in documentation I could find anywhere.

****DO NOT BUY****

Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5000 Laser
Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5000 Laser

Pros: great that it's wireless with LCD readout. Keyboard and mouse very comfortable setup.

Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE. After trying dozens of installs, update after update, this thing is still an overpriced waste. I will concede that with every update the problems got less pronounced. In the beginning I would lose connection on mouse and keyboard an average of every 2 minutes, those disconnects would last up to 1 minute, and the lag effect would go on for up to 3 minutes (hit a key once and you get a page worth of it). Over a year later and at least 4 updates as well as calling in for an updated receiver a month ago, I STILL have issues. Instead of being every few minutes, it averages to every 10 minutes. Don't let them fool you. You could put any driver in the world (BT stack driver), you could put the receiver in any usb port at any distance or line of sight. The fact is, some of these will NEVER work right for you. They messed the design and no driver can fix that. Their updates only fix the problems with their drivers. It's logitech, their drivers ALWAYS suck at first release

Overall Review: I have always been of the mindset logitech was great hardware, HORRIBLE drivers. This product changes that. And from research, the VAST majority of owners of this product feel the exact same way. And it appears any combination of bluetooth and logitech is a nightmare, even more so for gamers. Avoid this product at ALL COSTS, unless you get it for free, dont mind wasting time trying to get it reliable, and don't game or write important documents.
