Newegg out did themselves!
Pros: Quiet, runs cool, amazing amount of storage, 2-year warranty.
Cons: Didn't come with eSATA cable. USB cable didn't work. Had to use one of my own.
Overall Review: Newegg out did themselves on the shipping time. I had this on my doorstep the next day after ordering it with the default shipping. Kudos!
Follow-Up Review
Pros: Decent price. It looks good.
Cons: I've owned this drive for over 2 months and it makes this disconcerting clicking sound whenever it spins up. It seems to spin up every 15 minutes or so whether you access the drive or not. It only clicks when it is spinning up but it does this all the time. I'm afraid to leave it turned on when I'm not accessing it and it seems only a matter of time before the drive fails. I haven't opened the case to see what kind of drive is installed for fear of voiding the warranty. I am leery of placing anything of irreplaceable value on this drive. Not the kind of feeling you want to have when you buy a 2TB external drive to store your precious data on. In the future I am sticking to a brand name external drive manufacturer like WD to assure myself I’m getting one of their drives.
Overall Review: Beware of the rebates on these drives. After the 10-12 week waiting period, I am still awaiting my rebate. I also keep getting the dreaded status message: "Your rebate claim has been approved. Awaiting final approval by the manufacturer. Allow 10 to 12 weeks from the date you mailed your claim to receive your rebate check." How long does final approval take? It seems they are just dragging their feet.
Don't buy this based on the rebate
Pros: None
Cons: I sent my rebate off four months ago and still no sign of it. It isn't cheap enough to be worth the price without the rebate.
Overall Review: This video card is mediocre at best. It is pretty clunky and doesn't do Netflix Silverlight video well. I haven't had much luck with Radeon chips. I will stick with NVIDIA in the future.
Works perfectly
Pros: Works perfectly for what I use it for which is playing video files on my Sony Network Media Player through the USB jack on the front. The clear cap fits snugly on the back of the unit and the LED activity light is still visible.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: Great for the price.
Great for a HTPC
Pros: Perfectly quiet and it handles every video format I throw at it without a hiccup.
Cons: Some say it gets extremely hot but my small HTPC case doesn't get hot at all. Just use sufficient cooling.
Overall Review: I have an older HTPC with 2GB of system memory. This card's 1GB of memory saves my system memory for other tasks which I like.
It does the job
Pros: It works with no read/write errors.
Cons: None
Overall Review: You can always count on SanDisk quality, especially when it is priced the same as no name flash memory. I will choose SanDisk every time.
