Needs to be activated with a MS Account

Microsoft Office Home and Business 2013 Product Key Card - 1 PC
Microsoft Office Home and Business 2013 Product Key Card - 1 PC

Pros: Gets the job done like all other Office versions.

Cons: Microsoft forces the installer to get a MS account and to have to register the product online. What if you don't want a MS account? Well too bad. What if you're IT installing for a user? Well sign up for an account. Never mind if you're not even the user. I was also advised that the new flat interface makes it less readable, is the best I can describe it.

Overall Review: I can understand making you activate a product online. But force you to sign up for a account when you've fully paid for your software is a first for me. It's also a pain for IT in various situations. If it weren't for just a couple of needed features I would switch over to Open Office permanently.

Installing Win 8.1: Chicken before the Egg

Microsoft Windows 8.1 - Full Version (32 & 64-bit)
Microsoft Windows 8.1 - Full Version (32 & 64-bit)

Pros: Win 8.1 is pretty nice after you make a few tweeks (install a 3rd party start menu). Good performance and does everything you typically expect from Windows.

Cons: You can NOT install the download version on a newly built computer unless you already have a WORKING Windows computer with the same type (64bit vs 32bit) processor. So if you're switching from Ubuntu or Mac and you don't have access to a Windows Box, forget about using the download. If your computer has failed and you don't have another one lying around with the same BIT processor, forget about it.

Overall Review: This is crazy, I shouldn't have to go scrambling around to find a compatible WIN PC to build or change to Windows. Now I have to stay at work late to make a Install CD. If I'd know they would NOT give me an ISO, I would not have bought the download.
