Super Fast, Upgrade the Firmware

Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2CCA 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) with Transfer Kit
Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2CCA 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) with Transfer Kit

Pros: This is an extremely fast and reliable SSD with the proper firmware. It was everything that I expected it to be and more! There hasn't been any sort of performance issues what so ever no matter how full the drive gets. Buy it! You won't be disappointed!

Cons: After owning this drive for a while I started getting 0xF4 BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). When It started doing this it would hang on the BSOD with "Intializing Disk for Crash Dump" and not write the dump file to the disk. I would hit the reset button on my computer to reboot, but my BIOS would drop the disk as not being recognized. The only way I could fix it was switching off the power supply then switch it back on to start using the computer again. The computer would only stay on for about 45 minutes to an hour before crashing again. I thought that the SSD was starting to die on me. I was ready to file a warranty claim and RMA the SSD to Crucial to fix the problem. Before doing so, I checked out Crucials website to find out if a firmware update was available. To my surprise there was one listed as being "Strongly Recommended". I updated my firmware and everything is working perfectly just as it had before. Check your firmware! Mine came with firmware 0009. Upgrade to 0309!

Overall Review: My experience with SSD's goes back to the early Asus EEE PC 701. The technology has come a long way since then and has since improved greatly. I am glad that I purchased this SSD even with the bug that I was getting. Make sure to upgrade the firmware or you may get the same errors I was. For those that maybe curious due to the BSOD I was getting, my PC specs are as follows: Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced ASRock 890GX Pro3 Motherboard Crucial M4 128 GB SSD AMD Phenom II X6 1100T CPU 16 GB G.Skill RipJaws 1333 RAM Cooler Master Silent Pro 700W Modular PSU XFX Radeon HD 6870 Video Card Seagate Barracude 1 TB HDD Acer 22" 1080p LCD Lite-On DVD-RW

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition - Phenom II X6 Thuban 6-Core 3.3GHz, 3.7GHz Turbo Socket AM3 125W Desktop Processor - HDE00ZFBGRBOX

Pros: First AMD Phenom II BE that I have purchased and I am glad to say that this is a very very fast CPU. Best bang for the buck in its class. WEI for the CPU is 7.6 in Windows 7 with no over clocking. I get to the desktop before the twirling windows logo boot screen finishes twirling.

Cons: My CPU didn't come with a case badge. Very noisy stock CPU fan. The fan wants to run at about 60-80% most of the time when idle. Performance doesn't seem to be affected.

Overall Review: Every AMD CPU that I have purchased from Newegg came with a case badge with the exception of this one, what gives? Does AMD not offer case badges for the Phenom II X6 BE CPU's. The fan is so noisy. I am looking into an aftermarket CPU fan/heatsink. I dropped this into an ASRock 890GX Pro3 ATX motherboard thats in a Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced case. Other components are AMD Radeon HD 6870, 8 GB G.Skill Ripjaws 1333 RAM, Crucial M4 128 GB SSD, and LITE-On DVD-RW.

Amazingly Amazing!

ASUS M51 Series 15.4" AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM-82 4GB Memory Windows Vista Home Premium

Pros: This is a very nice laptop! The CPU is very quick and AMD really did a good job on increasing the cache for their mobile line of processors. The graphics card is great as well for being a mid-level graphics solution. The facial recognition in is a neat trick but you will need to take pictures in several different light sources in order for the camera to recognize you each time. I also like how the lid latches down and isnt spring loaded like some other laptops. The design pattern on the laptop adds a nice touch along with the glossy finish to make it apealing to the eye. The LCD panel is sharp and and has a nice resolution for only being 15.4 inches. Recent games will play on this computer although it isn't marketed as a gaming machine. There isn't really much bloatware on this laptop. The Asus software that comes preloaded on this computer can be useful to some users but I didn't really need it. It comes with recovery media which is rare and runs Windows Vista 64-bit nicely.

Cons: It is very shiney and you will drive yourself mad trying to keep it clean. The keyboard filter software has only affected me while playing Need For Speed Undercover in which the keyboard is not very responsive at all. Other than that the keyboard works fine with the rest of my games and applications.

Overall Review: The driver disk has 64-bit drivers so when I first received my laptop, I wiped the hard drive, then installed Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit Edition. Works great! You can use the same license key that is on bottom of the laptop to install a 64-bit edition of Windows Vista Home Premium and activate it. I wish it had a fingerprint reader as well, but I knew that it didnt when I bought it. Make sure you go through the specs before you buy something so that you don't complain about its feature set when you open the box. Well thats my two cents.

Fair Case

Broadway Com Corp 204-4HA-BK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 450W Power Supply

Pros: So far the power supply has held up. It looks decent. Cheap price. Plenty of fan space.

Cons: The metal is very cheap and thin as others have stated.

Overall Review: My model had two spots in the side of the case for two fans. System Specs MSI K9MM-V AM2 motherboard, 1 GB of WINTEC AMPX DDR2 800 memory, an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Windsor core 2.0GHz CPU, a Philips 20X DVD Burner, and an ATI Radeon 9200 Graphics Card (spare part). This PC was an upgrade for a friend of mine who had an IBM K6-2 300 machine.

SAPPHIRE Radeon X1600PRO 512MB GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Graphics Card 100158

Pros: It is every fast for an AGP Card. It works great as an upgrade from my Radeon 9200. Plays Doom 3 on High Quality @ 1024x768. Cheap, esp. w/ 512 MB onboard memory.

Cons: Runs a little hot. In my system the temprature stays around 45 to 50 degrees C. So far I wasn't able to get the last stable version of ATI Tool to recognize it.
