Great card, bad software

EVGA GeForce 6800GT 256MB GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card 256-A8-N344-AX
EVGA GeForce 6800GT 256MB GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card 256-A8-N344-AX

Pros: This card can really handle graphic intense playing. This card is good enough to keep you set in games for a good while. I only have a Celeron 2.8 Ghz oc @ 3.08 Ghz, and can still run this card just fine and at high potential.

Cons: The card does get overheated very quickly, but nothing that nice air flow can't handle. The biggest surprise to me was that the installation software did not work, at all. The cd was a bit scratched when it arrived, and was completely unable to be used for it's designed purpose. I guess it was simply a manufacturing error, but regardless, it was quite annoying.

Overall Review: This card certainly works best with 2 gigs of DDR400. Even though it can play at Ultra graphics on most games, it has a medium number of hiccups. Plus, having a good processor always helps, my Celeron is just not gaming material. And last, make sure you have an internet connection, just in case the installation cd doesn't work so you can download the drivers.

Prey

Prey Limited Edition PC Game
Prey Limited Edition PC Game

Pros: Prey is built off of the Doom 3 engine, so it has some pretty good visuals. I felt that the story line was good enough to keep me intrigued, but nothing spectacluar. The weapons had a good feel about them, I really enjoyed watching how they move and twitch being that they were organic compounds. The dimensional portals and wall-walking was a blast, it kept things interesting and fun. The metal-casing for the game itself is cool, and I felt worth the extra $$ just for aesthetics alone. Also, having the game on DVD was nice, better than 3 or so CD-Rs.

Cons: The AI wasn't overly intelligent, only a few of the enemies were particularly strong, but even then they were nothing that couldn't be handled with ease. Basically, the game was a little on the easy, but that is something playing in Cherokee mode banishes, if you feel like p laying through it twice just for the added difficulty. The game had plenty of untapped potential, so it makes you wonder what they could have changed to make it better.

Overall Review: Overall, I enjoyed the game alot. Out of all the things I said and could've said was wrong and right with the game, the most important fact is that it was fun. It doesn't matter if the graphics are mind-blowing, the AI smarter than you, or the levels spawn from anything beyond your imagination, if you don't have fun then the game failed in it's purpose as a game. I definitely suggest Prey to any gamer out there. It's a good filler while waiting for titles like Crysis and BF2142. Enjoy.

Overall Great Game

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion PC Game
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion PC Game

Pros: The graphics on this game are truly next gen, and create an awesome opportunity for game developers to work with and increase for the future. Combat system is fun, interface isn't as bad as everyone says it is, world is beautiful, story line is intriguing.

Cons: As good as Oblivion is, it lacks in realism in certain areas, granted that it is only a game. One thing that gets to me is the lack of violence or a violence option. Not to sound like a gore hound, but last time I checked, if you smash someone in the head with an axe, they suffer some serious physical damage. Also, rain is kinda meh, it doesn't puddle or drip, it's just kinda there. Lack of variation among caves and ruins, they're all basically the same. Also, shadows are very buggy, particularly self shadows.

Overall Review: You have to remember that no matter if it's "next gen" or not, it's only a game, and it does have limits. The day that we begin making games that incorporate everything as it is in reality, is when we lose site of why we began making games in the first place. Overall, Oblivion is a great game, very enjoyable for hours and hours. I highly recommend to anyone into role playing and/or FPSs. Just make sure you have a beefy system to run this beast.
