Pros: It does work. However, caveats apply if you are using HDMI and an AVR. You cannot hook these to volume out on TV if it supplied by HDMI. I bought these for use on a ROKU XDs which has RCA and HDMI + WiFi. Perfect for English movies since most on NetFlix do not have CC. On DVD and most TV I can use CC, but then have to wear glasses. Getting old is tough so don’t laugh :). I then tried using them via the RCA on Dish receiver with HDMI installed. Worked great, wife can hear TV I use phones. Sound not cut off as when using jack on Pioneer Elite AVR. So I bought female - female RCA couplers, used an extra RCA set to Dish/DVD, not I can manually choose what I need
Cons: None that I can think of. It is the HDMI DRM that makes these hard to use. If you are not using HDMI, perfect.
Overall Review: Glad I bought these. Once I finally figured out the HDMI limitations, and chose to jury rig the set up, it was a breeze. On most movies that do not have sound tracks running in background I am fine. I also can enjoy the THX-SS system I installed on most occasions. Good for the noisy movies from Hollywood today
