Great Bookshelf Speakers--Recommended
Pros: I had some Polk RTi4 Bookshelf Speakers that I purchased because I could afford them years ago. Using them with an old Denon 250 stereo receiver (2 way), 50 watts per channel with some dynamic headroom. Recently, I starting listening Japanese popular music, ie girl bands like AKB48, SKE48, and so forth. The multitude of female voices overwhelmed my RTi4s and there was no separation. Saw a great deal for the Def Tech 450s at $300/pair with shipping on NewEgg. Had not heard of Def Tech before this, but the NewEgg reviews were good, so I purchased from NewEgg. Delivery was fast and speakers were undamaged. Could not be happier. I have even been listening to my old CD collection. Every CD sounds better now. --Detailed sound that captures the music as recorded. --Able to reproduce the highs and midrange accurately --Base is fantastic for a bookshelf. --Speakers are solid and look good. --Best sounding speakers I have owned. (Used to be a mid-budget audiophile with full size speakers, before I moved into a dinky NY apartment) with too much rent. --To be honest, I do not understand why these speakers are still available at the price NewEgg is selling them at. I think the value is close to the $599 list price for the speakers. $500 would be a great price for the speakers. The $300 I purchased it at was a total steal! --Ownership about 3 months.
Cons: --Thought it was a steal at $300 from NewEgg. Now it is $250! --Started out a little bright in the high frequencies. However, after playing for a while, the sound is becoming more natural and delicate. Not really a con, since other Def Tech says that it takes about 100 hours to break in the speakers. I expect the mellowing to continue. Even on the first day, the speakers sounded a lot better than my old speakers.
Overall Review: --Also purchased subwoofer MartinLogan Dynamo 300 from NewEgg at same time for about $100. However, since the Def Tech 450 have precise bass that goes pretty low, not sure if I need a subwoofer, especially since I live in an apartment. Often leave subwoofer off especially at night. --Purchased based on NewEgg reviews. I trust NewEgg reviews because NewEgg does not edit out negative reviews. NewEgg reviewers are honest. I remember once I purchased a motherboard from NewEgg. Without the comments about the specs in the reviews, I never would have gotten the motherboard to work.
Works Good
Pros: --Good sound. --Paired with my Lenova Laptop, Ipad mini, Ipod touch, not problem. --Not so big. Easily portable. --Loud enough.
Cons: --Does not charge from a USB port.
Overall Review: I wanted a blue tooth speaker that I could carry around the apartment with me. This fits the bill. Good sounding, but not high fidelity.
Great Replacement Mother Board
Comments: My cheap emachines 1.6 Mz Athlon mother board fried after 2 years. I used the parts from the old computer, plus an even older case I had around to build an old computer. It should be noted that this is my first attempt to build a computer. When I was done, nothing happened. Then I went back to the comments on this page and changed the jumpers for bios and speed, and it worked fine. I am happy. For the price, this is great.
