More KUDOS to SYSWAM

SYSWAN SW24 VPN Dual WAN VPN Load Balancer 2 x 10/100Mbps WAN Ports 4 x 10/100Mbps LAN Ports
SYSWAN SW24 VPN Dual WAN VPN Load Balancer 2 x 10/100Mbps WAN Ports 4 x 10/100Mbps LAN Ports

Pros: Just communicated with tech support or customer service through email. Another "EGG" point for Syswan. I would give them 6 eggs if I could. A feature where you are emailed if a link fails is already in place. A feature to email if the connection is back up is not in place. My email was replied to within 24 hours. Good news, free firmware updates will have this feature implemented around to or just after the new year 2009 begins. I'm not the first to request this feature but CUSTOMER SERVICE is out there and they respond. TWO THUMBS UP for SYSWAN again!!!

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I'm further satisfied by this product. This is my second review entry on this Syswan. I just had to say something about their customer service / tech support response. You know, lots of times you read reviews for motherboards, memory, cases, monitors, etc. and you get a feel for what you're comfortable with and then you make your purchase. I have never been more satisfied with buying something as a replacement (to my Netgear router) and feel I've gotten my absolute money's worth of product. This is definitely a good purchase for me.

RiDATA 4.7GB 16X DVD+R 50 Packs Spindle Disc Model DRD+4716-RDCB50
RiDATA 4.7GB 16X DVD+R 50 Packs Spindle Disc Model DRD+4716-RDCB50

Pros: price.

Cons: doesn't burn consistently. i get successful burns and then the disc isn't usable on another pc. i burn home video (not copyrighted material) and it's unable to read on stand alone dvd player. I use HP DVD+R and results are successful. I don't know why I have so many unusable successful burns with RIDATA. Very disappointing.

Overall Review: after 20 no goods, my mind has no thoughts. i'm perplexed with the poor quality

Get what you pay for.

TRENDnet Wired IP Camera with MAX Resolution 640x480 (TV-IP110)
TRENDnet Wired IP Camera with MAX Resolution 640x480 (TV-IP110)

Pros: The prices are ok. I actually purchased this 110 and the 110W wireless locally for 49.99 for the 110 and 69.99 for the 110w. I think I found a fire sale.

Cons: They both lock up after a few minutes of run time. maybe i have defective cameras. the lighting is very dim. i'm used to the D-Link 5300's which cost nearly $300.00. These cameras are truly not worth even 50 dollars. it's a waste of time to deal with cheap cameras.

Overall Review: i'm returning my cameras and going for better quality & unfortunately higher price.

Love it.

SYSWAN SW24 VPN Dual WAN VPN Load Balancer 2 x 10/100Mbps WAN Ports 4 x 10/100Mbps LAN Ports
SYSWAN SW24 VPN Dual WAN VPN Load Balancer 2 x 10/100Mbps WAN Ports 4 x 10/100Mbps LAN Ports

Pros: All the features expected for a dual broadband router. Tested this for 8 hours, failing over TimeWarner cable and Verizon DSL, DynDNS worked smoothly and emailed alerts fired off fantastic. "BUT" I could be happier (read on).. This thing works as advertised!

Cons: My only con; I rushed to replace a Netgear that I'm very unhappy with. My only con is the LAN ports are 10/100. I very much missed the GIGABIT LAN ports. All this means for me is I add a 5 port gigabit switch rather than plug my existing switches into each of the 4 ports. So my con is so minor but it's the only one I have.

Overall Review: I really am at ease of how well this works compared to the netgear FS-xxxx whatever junk I had. Maybe I didn't get the Netgear set properly? I won't bad mouth netgear too bad I guess but once I installed this SYSWAN, BOY O BOY how happy I was to see how stable it was with failing over, Load Balancing, and DYNDNS.. I removed DYNDNS Updater from the workstation and instead I relied on the built-in DYNDNS plugin. THAT was a GREAT improvement on rapid failover tests. I failed over manually a few times and none of the workstations noticed. As a matter of fact, it would appear that load balancing works better on this than on Netgear. I'm so happy with this piece of hardware. ALSO, Setting up firewall (virtual server) rules was a breeze. I really appreciated the SYSWAN online demo that allows you to walk through all the screens before purchasing. I'd say buy this without looking. You will not regret this one over NetGear. I will certainly not consider NetGear over Syswan again.

Low Cost - Thin Metal

POWMAX CP808PL-1 Beige SGCC steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 450W Power Supply
POWMAX CP808PL-1 Beige SGCC steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 450W Power Supply

Pros: You simply can't beat the price. It's a free case that comes with your replacement 450W power supply. The case is very workable. It arrived undamaged (New York), not bad for 3,000 miles.

Cons: Boy is it thin - and I feel guilty for that much.. there are really no bad points about this case.

Overall Review: You know how sometimes you have to punch out a metal plate behind the plastic blanks in order to insert your cd/dvd drive? this don't have that extra metal.. i like that.. it's easy to work the case. It's day one and the first time I bought this particular case and I just had to write about it..I'd buy it again. My favorite case still has to be the gunmetal grey case with 2 80mm fans by codegen.. why did they have to discontinue that one??

x64 (DRIVER PAIN!!)

MSI 945P Neo3-F LGA 775 Intel 945P ATX Intel Motherboard
MSI 945P Neo3-F LGA 775 Intel 945P ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: The board is all it advertises. very nice and flexes when pressure is applied to install add-on cards. no problems at all plenty of space between everything for inserting cpu, fan, ram, etc, etc.

Cons: Windows X64 drivers are big pain in the neck. msi.com.tw is "slow-slow-slow". the chipset and sound are 64bit version driver. the ethernet is standard driver download - and NOT the x64bit driver download. what a pain. i also have the td128eh video card for this board. the x64 driver for this is difficult to find also. The CD that comes in the boxes doesn't have the x64 driver !?!? what's up with that?? c'mon MSI, pick up the pace.

Overall Review: I'm sticking with ASUS if I want Windowx X64. Sorry MSI.. you're not at the top of the list.. wait, why am I apologizing...
