GV62 8RE Review
Pros: Good performance for the price Fast bootup times Backlit keyboard
Overall Review: This is my second msi laptop! Last year I purchased the gl62m and I am satisfied with it so when I wanted to upgrade my laptop to one that can run games a bit better, msi was my go to brand! I got the gv62 8re model and I can definitely tell that the performance is better than my last laptop. The 16gb ram is what I feel is the standard now a days for gaming laptops and the 1060 is better than a 1050 while still being affordable. Bootup times are great with the ssd and I also like the red backlit keyboard as this is my first time owning a laptop with a lighted keyboard. I know laptops are known for getting hot during intense gaming and I love the turbo boost fan button to quickly cool it down on the fly. With that said, I'm excited to play many new games on my new msi laptop and am a happy repeat customer!
Looks Nice and is Fast!
Pros: Very fast gaming performance Unique case etchings
Cons: Fans are loud but that's to be expected from a powerful laptop May take a little tweaking to set it up properly
Overall Review: This laptop is amazing however it takes some know how to get it up and running for optimal performance. It works out of the box, but the fans were way too loud at default settings. I also ran into an occasional blue screen of death issue but I quickly resolved that by deleting bloatware (not sure what was causing it). After getting it all set up, it's a great laptop! It can run Red Dead Redemption 2 on Ultra settings without lag. True it's expensive but its an investment that I plan to use for at least the next 7 years. And with an i9, rtx 3080, 64gb ram, 2tb ssd while overkill for most games today, I feel it should be able to run up and coming games fine for many years in the future.
msi GL62M 7RD review
Pros: Entry level gaming laptop for a low price 1080 resolution gtx1050 1tb hdd
Cons: Battery life goes away fast while gaming but that's to be expected.
Overall Review: The other review that only gave 2 egg review for the hard drive not being "1 tb" is wrong. Anyone with experience buying flash drives or new hard drives know that you never have the "full capacity" available and that's because of the way formatting works. Also, they didn't take into account that the laptop has a recovery partition that's nearly 20gb. Yes it states 595gb for c drive, and 317gb for d drive which adds up to 912gb but you need to look at the capacity in bytes which is 639 billion for c and 340 for d which brings it up to 979gb + 20gb recovery partition which is pretty much 1 tb spot on. Anyways, I am very satisfied with this laptop as I am upgrading from an old laptop with an integrated intel graphics chip and I can finally play games with higher than 30fps! Now it's not going to run modern games at 1080 on ultra settings, but it'll do just fine on medium/high. Personally I find 1080 resolution makes games UI kind of small on a 15in screen so I prefer to game on 720 which allows me to play on high/ultra settings. In the end, I would recommend this laptop for anyone looking for a solid entry level gaming laptop!
