Great case

APEX MW-100 Black Metal with piano finish Mini-ITX Tower Computer Case 60W external Power Supply
APEX MW-100 Black Metal with piano finish Mini-ITX Tower Computer Case 60W external Power Supply

Pros: This case is tiny, very tiny. I purchased this case to replace my HTPC which is a full atx case that takes up way to much space. This case is smaller than my CD-rom enclosure. I cool really well for such a tight space I chock that up to the mini-ITX form factor. This is just a really well engineered case

Cons: The front cd-rom cover is made of plastic so it feels really cheap, but it works. This is just not a problem for me since I did not install a CD-rom into this machine yet.

Overall Review: It takes a lot of planning to make this case shine to its full potential. There isn't much space to work with so you will be using 1U CPU coolers with a 10mm thick fan any thing more than that will run into the HDD tray above it. The HIPER HFC-20820-C1 80mm EBR ROHS Certified CPU Cooler with a 10mm thick fan is what I put in the machine. My mobo came with a 1U cooler and fan, so I just used the fan from that cooler. There are fans on Newegg that would work as well like the Rexus TopMotor DF126010PH 60mm Case Fan. The HDD are 2.5" laptop drives not 3.5". The case fits everything like a glove so be careful and everything should work just fine.

JetWay JNC62K-LF AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 8200 Mini ITX AMD Motherboard
JetWay JNC62K-LF AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 8200 Mini ITX AMD Motherboard

Pros: The motherboard is small and comes with a lot of goodies

Cons: the documentation on this motherboard isn't very good

Overall Review: This mobo when under load such as during boot time is consumes 110 watts at the wall. This means that if you want to use it with the APEX MW-100 or other case with less that 120 watts power figure on getting a larger PSU.

HTPC mobo with some issues

JetWay JNC62K-LF AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 8200 Mini ITX AMD Motherboard
JetWay JNC62K-LF AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 8200 Mini ITX AMD Motherboard

Pros: The mobo is good and small. It is a great match to the APEX MW-100 Black Metal with piano finish Mini-ITX Tower Computer Case and all the additional things like the heatsink and fan saves a lot of hassle.

Cons: The chipset is really new so open source Nvidia drivers didn't exist at the time that I got it. I was able to use the Open Source video drivers on Mythbuntu. That may not be a problem for everyone and it may be resolved in the future. I also have to use all_generic_ide to install mythbutntu on the system

Overall Review: The 2.6.25 kernel, and nvidia 173.14.5 drivers should resolve the problems.

Thermaltake Silent Boost Ball CPU Cooler
Thermaltake Silent Boost Ball CPU Cooler

Comments: I'm Running a dual AMD MP 2800+ workstation and those CPUs run really hot, I was running idle around 60C and that turned my case in to a oven, put one of these on each CPU droped the temp 13-15C so I'm running idle at 48-51C the best thing though is now a max load I see no real change in temp when before under prolonged max load (about 1 hour) my systems heat pretection would shut down my computer. so for anywho who may not know better never underestimate the power of good cooling solutions. I only wish I could have gotten bigger and better but this was the best heat sink that would fit in the limited space on my MoBo, I have about 2 mm between heatsinks. Go with Arctic Silver thermal paste and you won't be sorry. Newegg has never let me down yet on product availibity and delivery time.
