Doesn't deal well with IDE optical drives

Pros: Works with Ubuntu 8.04, except as noted below for IDE optical drives.
Cons: Booting Ubuntu 8.04 with an IDE CD-RW or DVD-RW drive attached takes much longer than it should, and a steady stream of kernel error messages related to the drive continues even after booting. The system falls back to 25 MB/s on the IDE channel but the drives are still unusable. Had to buy an SATA DVD drive. No idea if IDE hard disks work but I'm not optimistic based on this. The northbridge gets EXTREMELY hot even when the system is idle. I'm running a low-speed fan on a Zalman bracket set over the NB to deal with this. Audio out seems to be subject to quite a bit of interference, could be the MB or could be my wiring setup.
Overall Review: Ubuntu radeon graphics driver would not recognize my Dell 2005FPW's flat panel and I couldn't get it into native 1680x1050 mode. This was not a problem running Ubuntu 7.10 on an Abit NF7-S, so the problem could be in Ubuntu's video drivers, in the motherboard's IGP chipset, or some interaction between them. The ATI fglrx drivers don't have this problem, but are prone to crashing and hard hanging the system when running xine using the Xv driver.
Worked briefly, now useless

Pros: Worked for about 6 weeks without incident.
Cons: Started generating errors for no apparent reason. memtest86+ now reports dozens of errors on both modules. Now useless.
Overall Review: Used in GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-S2H with Athlon X2 5000 Black Edition CPU. Default motherboard settings decided to overclock memory to DDR2 864, fiddling required to get it in spec.
Charge light won't go off, no manual, rebate not being processed

Pros: - Does recharge my phone (only to about 94%, even though there's charge left in the battery)
Cons: - Worked OK for the first charging cycle. After recharging the battery a second time, one of the 4 charge-level lights went on and no amount of fussing with the cables or the single button for the LED flashlight would turn it off - No manual or website support - Sent in rebate information a month ago and still no notification that it's being processed; nor is there a rebate website.
Overall Review: None of this is terribly surprising given the obscurity of the company or the cheapness of the product. It was a calculated gamble since the rebate might cover most of the cost of the device; it appears I lost that gamble. Would not order from Krazilla again.
Works great, unfortunate it's a bit large
![[USB 3.0 to RJ45 Adapter] UNITEK USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter Converter LAN Wired Connector, Support 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet for MacBook Air Pro Chrombook Microsoft Surface Pro PC](https://c1.neweggimages.com/ProductImageCompressAll125/A2BP_1304158330446214939X5e1qBtmL.jpg)
Pros: Works with Debian 8 without any tweaking or driver issues, which made my new Ethernet-free laptop more usable. Performance is a bit hard to assess but certainly in the several hundreds of Mbps range which is entirely acceptable.
Cons: None except that it's a shame they don't have a version of this which is a simple dongle without the short USB cable. It's a bit unwieldy and dangles from the laptop as a result.
Works for reading; sometimes VERY noisy

Pros: SATA. Works, at least for playing DVDs - haven't tried burning yet. Reasonably priced.
Cons: When playing DVDs using xine on Ubuntu 8.04, sometimes the drive makes a LOT of buzzing noise. Really a lot. Sounds like it's grinding through something. Playback proceeds normally but the drive noise drowns out the audio track (and probably wakes my upstairs neighbors).
Good combo
The braided USB cables seem robust, and don't impede charging rates. The dual-outlet charger is compact enough to go in a purse.
