Fast and reliable
Pros: This is the best RAM you can get for this price. There was an option to choose Micron based RAM like the other OCZ varieties and Corsair (some models), but beware that the micron based ram is soon vanishing as motherboard support is less. You wont be disappointed with this one! Go for it!
Cons: Has to be in matched pairs according to my mobo - not really a con but please note your upgrade options.
Overall Review: I installed this on my ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe mobo BIOS 0609 and it POSTED flawlessly. This with my AMD X2 4600 (I just got the AMD X2 6000 yay!) Note: To get the most out of this RAM you MUST change the DRAM voltage to 2.0v for this mobo and then reset the timings to 4-4-4-15. If the voltages are not selected correctly, the RAM will run at a lower speed - not what you want! If you mess up the voltages, the mobo gives a warning for you to correct it.
Overall good but wireless connection keeps dropping
Pros: + Easy to set up + Wireless Speeds are good (when it works, see below) + Good value for money + Wireless on off switch (EXCELLENT!!)
Cons: - Factory installed firmware is very old and its a big hassle to update it (see below) - The wireless connection is good but for some strange reason, after some random time (usually > 30 minutes), it will drop the connection for 5-10 seconds. This is very irritating. We've been using this for about a year now and we can confirm it keeps happening. Firmware upgrades dont help. PS3 gives connection error and Homegroup resets itself when the connection drops.
Overall Review: First of all the customer support guys are a joke. When I couldn't update the factor firmware (which is ancient) and called support they told me to get IE5 or an older browser. That's very difficult to do with Win7+IE8. The rep didn't have the technical expertise to help me further. After doing some research I found out that the firmware can be update using IE8 compatibility mode (its in the developer settings menu). Its very shameful that Trendnet hires people for support who cant troubleshoot such basic issues. Next big issue as I mentioned, is the wireless connection dropping after a random time. VERY IRRITATING!! If you can live with the second issue, this is a great router for the money.
Great performance, runs cool and quiet
Pros: Low power usage Great Performance No power needed
Cons: Takes up double PCI-E slots (covers one with the big fan)
Overall Review: Using it to drive 1440p resolution on an Asus monitor. Plays in excellent detail whatever game I throw at it. NVIDIA optimizes the games quality automatically which is a great feature. But where the card really shines is its low power usage. It delivers same performance as that of the Radeon 260X but at half the power. Doesn't need PCI-E power (draws power from the PCI-E slot). No power issues like the ones you have with ATI Radeon cards.
Great drive! Go for it!!
Pros: Relative quiet (but not silent) Reasonable fast Tons of space!
Cons: The design is kinda bland and not flashy like the WD blacks but hey who cares!
Overall Review: I have bought and used literally every manufacturer's hard drive. My desktop runs 24x7 and I constantly keep upgrading my drives. This is the first time however I bought a Hitachi drive and am quite plased with it. I hope their customer service is good. For example, WD has clearly better customer service than Seagate for example.
The best DL burner in the market
Pros: - Best Dual Layer DVD burner (for 8.74 gig DVDs) in the market. Also a great Single Layer burner (for 4.37 gig DVDs) - Excellent drive motor, feels very brisk and well built to mount and dismount CD/DVDs - Burning speed goes upto 22X-24X with media rated at 16X or above. However this is not the best option - see notes below - Supports disc scanning so you can check quality of burnt disc using Nero CD/DVD speed or other software. A BIG Pro for me. Allows me to verify the DVDs burnt will have a good shelf life.
Cons: Not exactly a con but make sure you have enough SATA ports or get a IDE-SATA converter (available here at newegg)
Overall Review: After owning the BenQs, LG and Samsung DVD writers, I conclude that Sony/LiteOns are the leaders when it comes to all round CD/DVD reading and burning performance. Sonys have never disappointed me and believe me you've got a 5 bagger with this drive. If you want a great all round drive, this drive won't disappoint you. Although the burn speeds go upto 24X, you are best off leaving the burn speed to 8X (best) or 16X (good) with 16X media (which is most abundant).
