Enterprise Drive Replacement
Pros: This drive is GREAT! I bought two of them for a RAID1 in an HP ML360 G5. (P400 controller. So I assume it will work in any controller past the P400 series.) They are the same height as an enterprise drive. (If you know how tall a 2.5in SAS drive is, THAT Is how tall they are.) I put them in the HP drive trays, and they work like a dream. Perfect for our archival file server.
Cons: I have never seen a laptop that I think that this drive would fit in. I've seen a LOT of laptops. Odds are this won't fit in yours. You've been warned.
Overall Review: Do your part and make sure a drive this tall will fit your needs before you purchase it and rate it down because you didn't do your part to make sure that it fit before you bought it.
Something went wrong...
Pros: The monitors power up. They connect to the PC. They have 4k resolution. They're cheap compared to some of the other 4k solutions available today.
Cons: I ordered two monitors, and one of them is "broken." I have two of these setup side-by-side. When in HDR mode, the color (specifically the greys) are presented very differently on the two of them. I'm not sure how a "BIOS" works on monitors, but it seems like an issue in the settings. The problem is that when in HDR mode, the monitor won't allow the user to change any settings because "in theory" HDR is giving it all of the information it needs to represent the color accurately. The issue is that the two monitors seemingly are programmed differently. I contacted Newegg to see what we could do about getting two of them that match. I think I know which of the two is broken, but I cannot say with a certainty. My proposal to Newegg Customer service was an advance RMA, I could compare which one was not performing correctly, then return it. The customer service rep let me know that they cannot do an RMA, and that I should contact ASUS.
Overall Review: I don't take issue with the fact that I received one lemon and one monitor that's working. The issue I take is with Newegg not being functional enough to resolve the issue with the product they sold me. I remember 10 years ago every time I needed a computer part, Newegg was the place to go. That was back when they had free shipping... These days it's just easier to go to "the other" retailer because shipping is quick(er) and I don't have to deal with issues like these... It's super unfortunate.
Pros: It works as advertised. Snappy for being 1.8ghz. It worked with a Corsair 4GB PC3-8500 (CM3X4GSD1066). Stays cool to the touch. Cool VESA mount (that I won't be using). Power adapter is relatively small. WiFi antenna is internal.
Cons: The drivers for the Ethernet, WiFi and Video are not included in the Windows 7 SP1 install. You will have to install them via the included CD. SD card does not sit flush with the front of the case when inserted.
Overall Review: I was expecting a Dual Core Hyper-threaded processor (a total of four logical processors) but there are only two. Hyper-threading must not exist. There is extra room for small things like flash drives and bluetooth dongles in the case if a person wanted to do some modding. (There are no connectors inside the case however)
Pros: A/V Sync issues not a factor. I've had some Avi files (divx and xvid) that would loose sync while playing, even in a software decoder. This product dosn't have that issue, which was a major buying point for me. I did research to try and find if this particular one had that issue handled or not, and it certainly does. Watching broken avi files was never easier.
Cons: none really. price i suppose. the interface is a little clunky, but not to the point it's unuseable
Overall Review: Great HDTV support. The 1080i looks amazing.
