nice product
Pros: +cool looking, +esata and usb, +includes esata bracket, +++standard power connector.
Cons: sharp edges on cheap plastic stand, kinda difficult to mount the harddrive inside this case because you have to press the harddrive firmly down and wiggle it a bit to get those little pegs to line up and go into the standard holes in the harddrive. once it is mounted it stays put. the retail box doesn't work so well for transporting this thing around.
Overall Review: i like it, my friends like it, so much they all ordered the same one so i guess that is why it is currently on backorder. when using the esata connector i have to reboot to get winxp to recognize the drive, usb connector is recognized without rebooting.
p5wdh deluxe
Pros: many features for htpc candidate board, best as a gamer's board. two ide ports for two master optical drives.
Cons: expensive, mobo runs hotter (45-47) compared to the cpu (38-40). heatsink in the way of cpu cooling fan (z7700). no lpt port. awkward position of onboard cd and mp3-in ports under the pci cards. onboard ati crossfire messages can't turn off.
Overall Review: ati crossfire board, not cool enough for htpc. first board was doa so took a star off for that. bought for workstation/htpc but would not buy again.
WD Green 2T
Pros: It's 2 Terabytes large, It's sata, It's reliable, Stays relatively cool, bubble wrapped nicely,
Cons: not as fast as a SSD but hey, they don't even make a 2T SSD yet that I know of and the 1T SSD is about 5 times more expensive than this workhorse.
Overall Review: does the job
Good large-capacity HD
Pros: Quiet Cool Big capacity
Cons: kinda pricey, although much cheaper than a few months ago when I bought my first one.
Overall Review: I own two of these, both work just fine. One is in my WinXP home server, the other is in my external Rosewill enclosure. I don't do RAID. This one came packed better than the first one I got six months ago. WinXP shows an actual storage capacity of 1.9 Terabytes.
Don't buy this one
Pros: small usb receiver
Cons: cheap plastic battery compartment cover broke the first time I opened it. It still stays in place but it is loose. the scroll wheel on this particular model DOES NOT have a "smooth gyro" function like the previous model did.
Overall Review: I purchased about 6 Nano mice from Logitech, they discontinued the model I love which has the "smooth-gyro" scroll wheel function. That makes long pages a snap to navigate. This product DOES NOT have that feature. I will not purchase this product again and wish I kept the package so I could send this overpriced piece of junk back.
Nice Engineering from Rosewill
Pros: Compact eSATA + USB2 Barrel Type Power Plug On/Off Switch Precision engineering works with my WD-2T-Green HD. Comes with assembly directions.
Cons: nothing wrong with this product.
Overall Review: Not a tool-less product, you need a small phillips screwdriver to assemble. No big deal, just to let you know. read the manual to figure out which screws to use where. Careful with the led light when assembling, it can get in the way when sliding the assembled hard-drive/circuit board into the enclosure. A slight bending to get it to clear the case. I've tried about a half dozen different enclosures and this is one of my favs.
