Great for the Price

Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)
Acer H6 Series H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LED Backlit LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 ACM 100,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: Aside from really good specs, the screen is bright, and has a low (1/4") bezel. Actually comes with all - VGA, DVI, and HDMI cables! I was fairly surprised by that. They are only 3' cables, but long enough for my setup nevertheless. The screen is glossy, but I know some people who don't like glossy screens and some who do, so I'll put glossiness as both - pro and con. Overall I think this screen has the best bang for the buck.

Cons: The screen is glossy, but I know some people who don't like glossy screens and some who do, so I'll put glossiness as both - pro and con.

Overall Review: I like this monitor so much, that I'm trying to get a second one. But newegg raised item's price by $10 the day after I bought the first one :( Newegg, can I get the second one for the same price I got the first one? *puppy eyes*

Most Critical Review

Good monitor; Bad LG

LG IPS231B-BN Black 23" Height,Swivel & Title Adjustable Full HD IPS Panel LED BackLight LCD Monitor w/Speakers 250 cd/m2 DFC 5,000,000:1 Built-in Speakers
LG IPS231B-BN Black 23" Height,Swivel & Title Adjustable Full HD IPS Panel LED BackLight LCD Monitor w/Speakers 250 cd/m2 DFC 5,000,000:1 Built-in Speakers

Pros: Great colors, Great contrast, Great viewing angle. Good response time for an IPS too (great for gaming). Rotating stand is a good idea too. Overall a great product, but...

Cons: The monitor came in with a dead pixel. I didn't notice it before NewEgg's warranty expired. It has pretty small pixel size, and I didn't think to look for dead pixels. But that's my fault. I contacted LG, and they offered to pay for shipping, for me to sent it to their tech, and so I did. However, when I got the monitor back in a month, not only it still had a bad pixel in the same spot (the tech reported that he didn't see any problems), but the mounting screws for the stand had destroyed threads so that I wasn't able to remove them (wanted to wall-mount it). LG offered me to mail it back to them, but by that time I was deep into the school term, and wasn't able to have no computer for another month, so I'm still using the same monitor.

Overall Review: Next time if a monitor comes with bad pixel, I'll make sure to add a paper arrow to the location of the pixel.

Great for NAS or as Backup storage

TOSHIBA Canvio Desk 3TB USB 3.0 Desktop External Hard Drive HDWC130XK3J1 Black
TOSHIBA Canvio Desk 3TB USB 3.0 Desktop External Hard Drive HDWC130XK3J1 Black

Pros: Aside from specs that you can find here, on newegg, an active spin-down is worth mentioning. If you don't read/write to this harddrive in a while, it will spin its disk down. Which is perfect for using it as a NAS system or as a Backup drive. The drive also has a separate power supply, which allows you to use it with raspberry pi without extra hardware.

Cons: none

Overall Review: I have two of these connected to a raspberry pi, running samba. Great, really power efficient NAS.

Good monitor, but I had a dead pixel

LG IPS231B-BN Black 23" Height,Swivel & Title Adjustable Full HD IPS Panel LED BackLight LCD Monitor w/Speakers 250 cd/m2 DFC 5,000,000:1 Built-in Speakers
LG IPS231B-BN Black 23" Height,Swivel & Title Adjustable Full HD IPS Panel LED BackLight LCD Monitor w/Speakers 250 cd/m2 DFC 5,000,000:1 Built-in Speakers

Pros: Great bang for the buck. I love the contrast ratio - next to my old TFT LCD the colors are amazing. The monitor has a neat "reading" mode that cranks up the contrast even more - my eyes don't get as stressed after reading a lot. I also use it in a portrait orientation a lot - great for reading full screen, or writing code. I game a lot. Usually IPCs tend to have a lower matrix response time then TFTs, but once you get down to 5 ms, you can't really notice anything - all fast games look great on this monitor. It has speakers, although they are low quality laptop speakers, you never should expect a "home theater" built in speakers. I often bring this monitor with me to places, it's nice not to worry about not having speakers when I need them.

Cons: None really. Not for the price anyway. You may want a USB hub in it or an hdmi port, but that'd be extra features, that would raise the price.

Overall Review: Unfortunately the monitor I got has a dead pixel. It's not stuck pixel, it's dead (constantly black). The monitor has a fairly high pixel density, so I didn't notice that pixel for quite some time. By the time I noticed it newegg's warranty expired. So I called LG, and they agreed to repair it. 3 weeks without the monitor and it came back. Seems like repairman tried to turn it on, it worked, and he sent it back, because in the log he said that no problems found, but my screen still has a dead pixel. So I contacted LG again, and they agreed to replace it, but at this point I'm just tired of not having a monitor. It's hard to notice the pixel anyway, so I'll keep this monitor. I just wish LG's repair service would be better.
