May have hit a bad batch??
Pros: Good Price, highly Compatible, usually reliable
Cons: May have hit a bad batch!!
Overall Review: Not much a review writer, but I do buy a lot of this memory. I build or modify over 300 desktops per Year and use these modules for White Box Makers upgrades. I have bought about 600GB of this product since it's been available. Counting the 1333Mhz version I have probably purchased over 1000GB of Pareema Ram. Until the last month I have never encountered a bad stick. I bought a 10- 8GB Packs recently and 3 of the 10 to date(I Have not used them all) have experience boot problems. Since I have had a long run of good expierence with this Brand I can only chalk it up to a bad batch getting out of the Factory. Newegg as always has been terrific with the RMA and since I keep Stock it was no real inconvenience. I will buy more since I think this was just a freak incident of RAM getting out without being fully tested. My past experience with this Brand has been stellar so they must have a good testing System.
Decent for the Price
Pros: Dual DVI adequate Memory for 22" LCD
Cons: REBATE. I made the mistake of ordering a PowerColor Product with a Rebate. I have sworn off doing Rebates with them since I still have 3 unpaid Powercolor rebate going back to Oct 08. I have called and left messages on 5 different occasions and no return call. FOR SURE MY LAST POWERCOLOR PURCHASE. There are too many honest card Manufacturers who actually pay Rebates and do so in a timely manner.
Overall Review: Stay Clear of any Product from this Company if there is a Rebate involved.
Still a Paper weight and could be for a long time!!!!!
Pros: @ this point none since Sandisk refuses to address the TRIM issue. Even after numerous request by phone & a Better Business Complaint that they have ignored.
Cons: While other Manufacturers have rushed to release Firmware updates to get their Sandforce controlled SSDs TRIM working. Transcend released 5.0.4 more than two weeks ago and it did go through the validation process. I have one of their Drives and the Tech Support People were terrific when I called them. Sandisk is just dragging their feet, I assure you if this issue affected Enterprise Drives it would have been fixed in a heart beat because they know they would be sued by some Large Corporate User. Sandisk treats the Consumer like dirt and actually seems to have disdain for us. If you go to Sandisk Forums there has not been one response by anyone@ Sandisk in any of the threads concerning the TRIM Defect. IMHO this is not a Company that should be enriched by us, the stupid Consumers who Sandisk has no problem ignoring!!
Overall Review: We now know why Newegg has the no refund policy in place for SSDs. When you are selling a product of a Company that does not support a product and ignores Users. You would not want to offer refunds on those products!!
This Drive is a very nice Paperweight!!!
Pros: Do not know since I have not installed any of them.
Cons: Defective in the Box. Manufacturer unresponsive to request for fix. Even though it is a confirmed defective Drive due to faulty Firmware. You are stuck with it once you buy it. I broke my own rule and purchased SSDs with sandforce controllers. I am now suffering the consequences of my decision.
Overall Review: this Drive is equipped with the Sandforce 2281 Controller that is know to have a defective Firmware Version 5.0.1. which has broken TRIM. Please Google sandforce 5.0.1 broken TRIM you can read all about it. There are tons about it and more every day as Manufacturers scramble to release new Firmware now that the word is out that they were selling defective Drives!! My best guess is Sandisk like everyone else who uses sandforce controllers(Intel is the exception) utilize the sandforce produced firmware as base code & develop from it and put a finish Sandisk Firmware Version Release on it. Sandisk's current Firmware called R201 which has been confirmed to have the same broken TRIM problem. Google Sandisk Broken TRIM you can read all about it. Stay clear of the Drive because if you send it back to Newegg they are going to send you back another in the Box defective Drive. If firmware is every released it can be destructive so be prepared to back up and reinstall everything.
Why these Modules have boot problems? Solved??
Pros: CHEAP You get what you paid for.
Cons: Company uses a hodgepodge of Chip Manufacturers
Overall Review: When I inquired to Technical Support about the boot problems I was encountering they replied"Here we found a very important point would like to share with you. We did use well-know brand DRAM IC to build our PAREEMA modules to make sure our quality is stable and reliable, but the question is that we do not necessarily use the same brand DRAM IC every time." In other words Guys they buy the cheapest chip they can find stencil it with their name and make no note of a Revision or designation on the product when they make a chip change. So there is a very good chance the Product you buy today is not the same as the one you bought yesterday and the chance of it working with other Pareema RAM with the same model # are slim because of the Chip change. Reputable Manufactures when using a different chip on the same model give it a Revision #. This is a second class Manufacturing operation. I will stay clear in the future. Their manufacturing process cannot guarantee a reliable product.
Did hit hit a bad batch!!
Cons: Almost entire shipment was bad.
Overall Review: This is a follow up to an earlier review that cannot be edited. I bought 10 8GB Packs of this Memory on an order last month. @ first I had two sets that were causing boot problems that were replaced. I had an order for another build and to get two Systems to boot through I had to go through 5 packages of 2x4GB. Then add to that 2 Systems I had to have shipped back with boot problems which accounted for 3 more 8GB Packs. I am now returning 6 Packs to Newegg for Refund not replace. With the cost of shipping the two Systems back & forth cross Country this RAM is no longer a bargain and since the return includes 1 of the replacements from an earlier RMA I would say this Company has real issues with this RAM. As I stated in my earlier Review I have had good luck with this Brand, but after the current performance issues I can now longer consider it a fluke this RAM is deeply defective and the Manufacturer needs to address the issues. My days of buying this Brand are in the past.
