Good drive so far....

TOSHIBA X300 Pro HDWR440XZSTB 4TB 7200 RPM 256MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
TOSHIBA X300 Pro HDWR440XZSTB 4TB 7200 RPM 256MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: The 4 TB X300 drive was seen by my Mac and I had no problem formatting it to be used in my Akitio 4 bay Thunderbolt external box. Some quick tests with a couple of drive utilities showed no issues. It has worked flawlessly for a month so far and is fairly quiet. It replaces a couple of 1 TB WD Black drives that were 8 years old and showing errors. Who can guess how long this drive will last. I still have some SCSI drives from the 1990s in a Old Mac that still work. If this one doesn't last I may go to a SSD....

Cons: While the drive arrived in retail packaging with no damage it was not in a antistatic envelope.

Overall Review: So far this drive does the job and I would buy another one. With spinning drives only time in service will tell the story.

Most Critical Review

3.5 Inch - WD4005FZBX drive

WD Black 4TB Performance Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 256MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD4005FZBX
WD Black 4TB Performance Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 256MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD4005FZBX

Pros: The drive did work in a external USB 3 box

Cons: The drive did not work in my Akitio Quad X Thunderbolt box connected to a 2017 iMac 18,3 which is where I wanted to use it. I spent days working with Akitio support to try to get a firmware update on their Quad X to work but in the end the WD 3.5 Inch - WD4005FZBX drive failed to stay mounted. WD website offered no solution that I could find.

Overall Review: The drive mounts & works fine in a Icy Dock USB 3 external 4 bay box connected to the same Mac. I cannot say how it will work in any other configuration.
