Well designed converting standing desk
Pros: Straight forward to assemble. Sturdy base. Substantial center column. Wide work surface. More metal than plastic. Works great for one monitor or two.
Cons: A bit of wobble when typing. I wish the lowest height was a bit lower since the seated position is a bit too high for me now. I could see how lowering the height would be tough for some
Overall Review: Ordered this on a whim since Newegg was offering a pretty substantial promo code. Honestly though, I think it's worth the retail price, especially if you can get your office to expense it as ergonomic equipment. Overall I'd rate it 4.5/5 but I rounded up since half scores aren't an option.
Great IPS monitor for the price
Pros: Once I played around with the color calibration to match my LG34UM95 (which was factory calibrated out of the box), this monitor looks great. The whole thing is very lightweight, and draws very little power. The glossy bezel isn't large enough to be too distracting, and the panel handles glare really well. Plugged in via HDMI to my computer, no problems at all with black bars or anything like that, it just works.
Cons: Not a huge mark against it, but it only has HDMI and VGA inputs. DVI would have been great. Luckily I had an extra HDMI cord lying around since it doesn't come with one (not listed as in the box though).
Overall Review: A bit of light bleed in the corners, mostly lower right in my case, but not to the point where I'd return it. Monitor menu for calibration has a ton of features, but navigation would be so much easier if there was an 'up' button instead of scrolling through everything again if you miss an option. Apparently this has speakers too, haven't bothered trying them out. All in all, a great monitor for the price, definitely recommended as a cheap second or third display.
Incredible hard drive
Pros: wow. this thing is fast. on my 2.53ghz macbook pro it transferred a 750mb video file is under 20 seconds over firewire 800. so far I couldn't be more pleased about not only the classy look, but the performance of this drive. powers over firwwire or usb. dual usb cable for extra power is nice, but works fine over firewire, and with the speeds I'm getting, I have no need for usb anyway. construction is solid, and they boast it will survive like a 6 foot drop. I'll take their word for it.
Cons: Little did I know that this drive came with a flashlight. the power led is so bright its incredibly distracting, I covered it up with so tape, not really a con, more of an aesthetic issue
Overall Review: From what I've read about the mac wd passports, they are sketchy over firewire and are so much more expensive. I saved some money by only getting the 320gb version, but this one also looks really awesome, the red was too flashy. look around for reviews of these iomega drives, and in comparison tests they are the most reliable, fastest, and cheapest for 2.5" drives. especially if you have a mac, this was a total no brainer. I'll probably get a second very soon
quality mouse
Pros: I love the laser tracking, it responds on any surface I've put it on and works great. its a great size for a laptop, but I much prefer my mx518 for my desktop, though I'm seriously considering getting a g5 after the performance of the laser. it feels good in my hand too, not cheap. It came with a travel case and usb extender, I won't end up using the extender, but the padded case is a nice bonus.
Cons: I love using the scroll button to open links in new tabs within web browsers, but the scroll wheel is too difficult to press quickly and easily. not only that it doesn't function like I expected it to. instead, the button behind the scroll wheel serves the purpose of middle click. given the small size of the mouse, it is awkward to press it on the fly, but then again I may just be used to a larger mouse.
Overall Review: Performance is great, plug and play with both my windows 7 desktop and snow leopard macbook pro
Newegg surpasses all expectations
Pros: These drives run quietly and stay pretty cool. I picked up two of them and they were delivered before newegg sent me the invoice with the tracking number.
Cons: I have a large number of components in my case at this point, so the noise increase was not that noticeable. Unfortunately, they aren't silent.
Overall Review: the pros of WD reliability combo'ed with newegg make these a great buy. this puts me at 5 WD drives, about 3.5TB. I have one of the 1TB Black drives as well, it was probably a waste of money because these work just as well and I'm not using the WD Black for Win7
I'll probably buy 2 or 3 more
Pros: The WD Black drives I've found are really reliable, quiet and run pretty cool. It averages about 36C, and with 6 case fans, I can't hear it at all. shipping was awesome, I have no complaints thus far. I'm using it for just storage, but with all of the back ups I do, I'll probably need at least 2 more.
Cons: I wish it was cheaper, but I can't really complain about ~$0.09 per gig. And it reads on my computer as 931gb, but all drives shrink....
Overall Review: I'm slightly concerned that I may tax my 460w PSU if I add too many more drives, so I might need to upgrade that as well, but as soon as I have the cash on hand, I'm picking a couple more up.
