BEWARE!!! My 2 Builds are Screamin' Fast!!!

GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 (rev. 6.0) AM3+/AM3 AMD 760G USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 (rev. 6.0) AM3+/AM3 AMD 760G USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Excellent performance and overall Excellent layout! Extremely easy Overclocker, too. Loads W7 x64 Ult. from my Corsair 16GB jump-drive (I bought from here over 7 yrs. ago) to my Raptor 300GB SATA HDD and another to a RaptorX 150GB HDD without Fail!!!

Cons: Don't like the Audio I/O config.

Overall Review: Some buyers/members seem to be Rating their Tech Knowledge a bit too High... as though they have "actually" been building systems, repairing, modding... and even as though they've been buying here on the 'egg in recent months or Years, as I have. I am an Average techy with average knowledge, but I have YET to blame anyone but myself for Not doing enough Research before concluding a transaction... which is quite Rare. Nearly every sys. board, vga card, memory module set and other PC components I buy here are for Liquid Cooled, Overclocked and Case-Modded builds I Sell... and everyone who I build for has Yet to complain. Go Newegg! ...and- Excellent photos showing the entire motherboard, esp. the 8-Pin 12v ATX plug which Anounces that the board is in NEED of a Higher Output PSU.

Received DOA- but didn't find out soon enough

ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: I had waited for 8 months or more to afford this board... perfect set-up for the New SLI VGA's, even if they ran at x8 each. The board came with everything you would ever need, and then some.

Cons: Well, I had bought this one and a G-Byte 939 SLI (Dual Bios) within weeks of each other, had the Dual Core 3800 CPU, but couldn't afford the VGA's yet... so I kept building/selling the other systems I already had in order to buy cards for these two boards. By the time I could afford Dual VGA's- I had already used the CPU I had bought 2.5 yrs. earlier- so I had to save for 2 more Nice 939 CPU's. Got them just after the "Warranties" ran out on Both boards- BRAND NEW- and when I bench tested them both, they were DOA. This is the only time I have received 2 "Top Name Brand" motherboards that would not POST, let alone give any Beep-codes as to what might be wrong. G-Byte said the same thing as ASUS- "send the board and $120 for repair, but we cannot promise anything. Even if we cannot fix, you will be out the $120." I haven't even opened ONE accessory in the ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe box, just the board- and it arrived without the sticker over the Memory DIMM's.

Overall Review: Now, I test all New boards as soon as I receive them. The M4N82 Deluxe works excellent, the G-Byte 990FX4 UD3 is extremely NICE! Even all 4 ASUS VGA's (2 9500 GT 1GB & 2 9600 GT 1GB meant for the A8N-SLI Deluxe and an A8N-32SLI Deluxe I bought and sold) work(ed) Perfectly. I paid $199.00 for the A8N-SLI Deluxe and was about 3 or 4 months past the warranty when I finally started the build on this ASUS- then when I first called about the Boot issue, and that gal on the phone was so Cold and Short! I called again about 4 weeks ago and talked to a Tech. to see if there might be something I missed, but he said the PCB is most likely the issue and the $120 would be a waste. NICE!!!!

Phanteks PH-F140SP_BK 140mm Case Fan

Phanteks PH-F140SP_BK 140mm Non-LED Case Fan
Phanteks PH-F140SP_BK 140mm Non-LED Case Fan

Pros: Really moves static air... seems more like 100cfm.

Cons: Loud. Much more loud than my Corsair 120mm and 140mm SP fans.

Overall Review: Corsair- way to go... Phantek- back to te drawing board...

Research & Installation of the EVERCOOL HPL-815EP Ever Lubricate CPU Cooler

EVERCOOL HPL-815EP Ever Lubricate CPU Cooler
EVERCOOL HPL-815EP Ever Lubricate CPU Cooler

Pros: Simple installation, cruise right through an even "Easier" setup. This cooler works great, setting idle temps on my Phenom II X3 740 at 34c (it's early summer here - room temp. is 79f) and in Prime95 under load it's at 61c ave. on all four cores... yes, four... this one is unlocked in my 98TD Evo board. Had this on my mini-itx system and changed that out to a Zalman CNPS2X which works just cool.

Cons: the fan is not my favorite so I swapped it out for a Yate Loon D12SM-12C (tricky fit) which moves about 50cfm and it's silent. All in all, I'd rate this installation on a difficulty scale of 0 (Zero) out of 5... Simple, quick and left nice and tidy. The only real Con is the way a few reviews are left about the design of this cooler... I feel that the more you actually read about products, the more you actually know... what? Come on kids, reading is learning.

Overall Review: Low Profile and Small Form Factor only means "You Need To Do Some Research" before you go off on a Buying Spree. These companies design and fabricate these components with the plan to fit or work with a multitude of system components... motherboard design/layout is the Main factor here and blaming someone else for one's lack of Computer Component Knowledge and basic Common Sense seems to be the Standard shown here with the Newegg "Overall Tech. Knowledge Rating System". If the responsibility lies on everyone else's shoulders, then someone else needs to learn to take the initiative... Something else, you who rate yourselves at such High Tech. Knowledge... a Small Form Factor build doesn't mean that you have to install a Low Profile cpu cooler. Come on kids- Research... the 'net is at your fingertips and you want to whine and cry about having to disassemble and store parts for your system in order to install a cpu cooler you have YET to learn about? Really? Rated at "High Tech. Level" but needs "clips" to mount a cooler... "heatsink is not in the correct orientation"... Really? These coolers are fab'd around as many system boards as possible for their design- Do "Your" research, too.

Pros: Excellent cooling, runs at spec. speeds... have yet to o'clock- soon, maybe...?

Cons: Cons... what...???

G.SKILL 2x1GB DDR 400 Dual Channel Kit

G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F1-3200PHU2-2GBNS
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F1-3200PHU2-2GBNS

Pros: Quality memory modules that last for years. Quality Control that distributes consistent products to a base that needs reliability.

Cons: What 'cons'...?

Overall Review: This is probably the Best DDR 400 memory I have ever purchased. I have had countless kits of this 3200PHU2-2GBNS since late '05 and without issue, I have depended on them for rebuilds, mods, standard builds and my own pc's. I have 4 kits left from around late '05 - mid '06 and installed a kit (sequential #'s) in an ABIT FATAL1TY AN8 nForce4 board recently- with Alphacool, Koolance and Primochill component, and the system was running great until I installed the 2nd 1GB module. Blue Screens at boot, then at driver installs. Changed kits from one of my reserves, same thing. Tried them in another build - BFG nForce4 Ultra 939- same thing. Tried a separate set, same thing. One kit was running fine in the BFG, but three kits in all stated showing errors in memtest, so I contacted G.Skill and filed an RMA. Sent in All 4 Kits and a week later I received 4 Brand New Kits. G.Skill, you are the Best when it comes to Quality Products, Quality Control and Quality Assurance... and most of all... Quality in Communication. I have 2 Kits of their F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ in my ASUS M4N98TD-EVO board with the Phenom II 980 and it's been a "cruiser" of a media pc. Thanks G.Skill
