Don't compromise

ASUS G Series 15.6" Intel Core i7-720QM 4GB Memory DDR3 1066 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
ASUS G Series 15.6" Intel Core i7-720QM 4GB Memory DDR3 1066 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Pros: HDMI, eSATA, 500g 7200rpm hardrive, KILLER screen resolution, GTS 360, backlit keyboard, bluetooth, digital sound, gigabit LAN, must I go on... Plays L4D2 on the highest settings flawlessly!

Cons: It does get pretty dang warm, but that comes as no surprise...they do a pretty good job of directing it to the side so you don't get to. warm with it on your lap. Battery life is poor obviously, but no surprises there. FYI the smartlogon app is essentially useless...

Overall Review: My system also came with DDR3 1333 ram. The laptop does come with bluetooth, which I didn't see listed in the specs. If anyone knows of a way to restore the factory recovery partition let me know (I'd like to nuke it but to my knowledge its non-recoverable). And someone was complaining about it not having S-Video...are you serious?!? I'm sorry they can't tailor a laptop to your specific needs, but it does have both analog (VGA port) and digital (HDMI). Get some new hardware or a vga converter and quit complaining!

Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550 550 W ATX12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready Power Supply
Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550 550 W ATX12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready Power Supply

Pros: Very steady, quiet, reliable power. Supports and overclocked Pentium 805D that draws some massive power. Motherboard can moniter (and I believe controls) fan speed. Very quiet with the 120 mm fan! Somewhat pricey but for the watts/quality is still a good deal.

Cons: Newegg had to bill me for it.

Overall Review: Don't get the TrueControl, I've read multiple reviews and still have no idea what purpose the front controller serves.

ASUS P5WD2 Premium LGA 775 Intel 955X ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS P5WD2 Premium LGA 775 Intel 955X ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: This thing supports pretty much everything, which it should for the price. I like the rear SATA port (I'll have to play with it), and onboard sound is very good. Setup was a breeze as EVERYTHING is clearly labeled and the manual is an 80 some page manual and ALL ENGLISH! Follow the walkthrough for all the plugins and you cannot possible mess it up. Bios is awesome and recovers from errors so no more playing with jumpers! Excellent driver/software support and overclocking apps.

Cons: Great overclocking board. I'm running a Pentium 805D (stock is 2.66 GHZ @ 533FSB) at 3.8 GHZ @ 760 FSB. However I could go faster if I could crank the CPU voltage up over 1.7 volts at Tom's Hardware suggest.

Overall Review: Setting up my IDE drive was kind of frustrating. I was tired of troubleshooting the raid setup so I didn't use the IDE main and secondary controllers. The third controller though slave and master are switched on the cable, can be very confusing!

More than what you pay for!

Cooler Master Centurion 5 CAC-T05-UW Black Aluminum Bezel , SECC Chassis ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Cooler Master Centurion 5 CAC-T05-UW Black Aluminum Bezel , SECC Chassis ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: 120 mm fan in rear and 80 mm (I think!) in the front. Front ports, excellent airflow, aluminum! The wires are VERY well labeled with sound support for multiple chips/plugs. HD/drive retaining system is ingenius, simple, and secure with no vibration.

Cons: IMO based upon how much I move my case around I don't trust the plastic retaininers for the rear slots. I Just scre wed (why is that word blocked?!?) them in as a backup, but I'm sure they do fine in most cases.

Overall Review: It would be nice if they had a smooth panel on the front for CPU stickers and the like. I had to resort to sticking them on the top front edge of the case. When you have top of the line you want to show it off...
