Intel NUC NUC5i3RYK, USB 3.0, Supports M.2 SSD card, Intel HD Graphics 5500, Mini HDMI, Mini DisplayPort
Intel NUC NUC5i3RYK, USB 3.0, Supports M.2 SSD card, Intel HD Graphics 5500, Mini HDMI, Mini DisplayPort

Pros: 1) Very small and quiet form factor 2) Low power usage 3) Peripherals all recognized/No incompatibilities 4) Low cost for fast system 5) Negligible build time

Cons: 1) M.2 SSD required is a bit more expensive than 2.5' form factor 2) Will need to get OS and drivers on a USB stick for transfer 3) Will likely need an adapter for video output (due to mini-hdmi and mini-displayport connectors)

Overall Review: I have been really happy with this machine. I bought it as a test box for my office to gauge the NUC platform's usefulness throughout the office. Despite being the only machine of its type (and the first Win 8.1 Pro machine on our office domain) everything is running very smoothly and I have yet to encounter any gotchas. I paired the NUC with 16GB of Crucial 1600MHZ DDR3 ram and a 500GB Samsung 850 M.2 SSD. Total package cost was $568 prior to installing Windows. Bottom line: This machine is a good candidate for an office workstation and you get way more for your money than you would with a pre-built machine. I just purchased components for a similar build with 8GB of ram and a 250GB M.2 SSD for $446.
