Better than expected, but not perfect

SANS DIGITAL TowerRAID TR4UTBPN 4-Bay 3.5" SATA to USB 3.0 / eSATA Hardware RAID-5 Storage Tower
SANS DIGITAL TowerRAID TR4UTBPN 4-Bay 3.5" SATA to USB 3.0 / eSATA Hardware RAID-5 Storage Tower

Pros: Setup is very easy. Attached software works smooth on Win7 64bit. The speed when connected to USB 3.0 is almost as good as internal SATA2 (when using CLONE mode with 2 disks). In RAID0 I can see a bottleneck around 120MB/s, but it can be caused by PCIe 1x -> USB3 card that I am using.

Cons: 1. The case is loud when the cover is on. The fan is actually quiet, but sharp metal edges of chassis and small internal space makes the sound of sucking air very distinctive. I tried to revert the airflow, but it's not helping much. 2. Disks do not go to sleep despite they are not used for x minutes. They only go idle x minutes after pc turns off. 3. Fan is working even when disks are off. 4. When I deactivate TowerRAID manually (by ejecting media device from windows tray), it goes to sleep after x min... but then it wakes up when I turn off the pc...

Overall Review: I made an experiment to see what to expect in case of my device failure. I created 2-disk CLONE array and copied some data into it. Then I took out one disk and the second one was still accessible and full of data. Later I connected disk removed from TowerRaid to my internal SATA port and there was no problem to read data from it. Finally, I put both disks back to TowerRAID in different bays. After some rebuild time, the array was in healthy state again and nothing was missing. Thus, I gained enough trust that my data are safe not only if single disk fails, but also in case of TowerRAID failure.

Everything went well

Team Elite 4GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Laptop Memory Model TSD34096M1333C9-E
Team Elite 4GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Laptop Memory Model TSD34096M1333C9-E

Pros: Snapped it into Foxconn nano pc nT-i2847 and everything worked great from the first run. Cheap but solid, that's what I like.

Cons: none

works well

Canon Speedlite 90EX (6825B002) Flash
Canon Speedlite 90EX (6825B002) Flash

Pros: * small and lightweight, * is using standard AAA batteries, * because it has separate power source, the camera battery lasts longer, * focus assistance works well.

Cons: * doesn't turn on automatically, there is a button you have to long-press to turn it on, * takes slightly more time to recharge than built in flash, but that probably depends on batteries.

Overall Review: The built-in flash in my camera (Canon EOS T2i) stopped working after one of my beach vacations. I tried to fix it according to the internet tutorial, but I only made it worse. Because my camera is only 3ys old and works great otherwise, I decided to buy the smallest external flash on the market. Canon Speedlite 90EX delivers as a replacement for built in flash. It is not stronger or faster, but it's got one advantage: it works.

So small but so great

ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)
ASUS Transformer Book T100 Intel Z3740 Quad Core 2GB DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet w/Dock, Windows 8.1 (T100TA-C1-GR)

Pros: * Speed is better than I expected. * Battery life as advertised. * No fans, no spinning hard drive, nothing to break. * System runs smooth like butter. I don't see any difference between this little device and my other full size laptop in terms of internet and office applications. I wouldn't try to run games on it, though. * Microsoft Office included (huge plus!). * Bios and system updated automatically without any issues. * About 39 GB space free left on C: after full system setup.

Cons: The cons are relatively small, but worth to mention: * Only one full size USB port in the keyboard dock * HDMI output should be moved to keyboard dock * Low quality of touch pad * Single camera only

Overall Review: I bought this device for my Wife. She had Transformer Prime before, and as much as she loved the idea of lightweight internet tablet, she unfortunately learned to hate it for its sluggishness and Android system limitations. Now, this tablet combines the best features of Transformer Prime and Windows OS. Once you connect the keyboard dock, it feels and works like a small laptop. The price is right - almost half of what I paid for Prime two years ago! Pretty good job Asus!

very good mouse but short battery life

Logitech G700 Black 13 Buttons Tilt Wheel USB RF Wireless Laser 5700 dpi Gaming Mouse
Logitech G700 Black 13 Buttons Tilt Wheel USB RF Wireless Laser 5700 dpi Gaming Mouse

Pros: High quality material, fast response, very good size and shape for my big hands.

Cons: Battery must be recharged every 3 days. No power saving settings makes it stay longer.

Overall Review: I like the scroll wheel and the fact it can be switched to smooth mode with one button. Thumb buttons feel awkward - I just don't like to use them.

I like it

LG D2342P-PN Black 23" 5ms HDMI LED Backlight Widescreen Cinema LCD 3D Monitor 250 cd/m2 5,000,000:1 w/3D glasses
LG D2342P-PN Black 23" 5ms HDMI LED Backlight Widescreen Cinema LCD 3D Monitor 250 cd/m2 5,000,000:1 w/3D glasses

Pros: 3D works and IT IS awesome. It took me 5 minutes to install TriDef software and run one of my games in 3D. Playing in 3D creates amazing effect, and I don't want to play in 2D anymore. Polarized glasses are perfectly light and very bright. I can play for hours without my eyes get suffer. The 2D quality is comparable with other monitors on the market.

Cons: Ghosting is sometimes visible, but only if I move my head much away from optimal angle. No problem if I play a game alone, more problem if I want to watch a movie with someone else. The windows fonts look fuzzy with glasses on, but this is a side effect of 3D technology used, not a monitor fault. Giving bad score to LG because of that is not fair.

Overall Review: Despite of what other people write, the software is 100% compatible with Win 7 64-bit. I installed the software from CD, but later I found a version to download from internet (available on TriDef page). I had NO problem to find, download and install (unofficial) 3D profile for relatively new game F.E.A.R 3. My other games were detected automatically and their profiles were downloaded to my computer in no time. Unofficial 3D profiles may have some small visual issues, official ones are just perfect.
