Economical archive storage

Seagate BarraCuda NE-ST8000DM004 8TB 5400 RPM 256MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Seagate BarraCuda NE-ST8000DM004 8TB 5400 RPM 256MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Cost effective storage Good read and write speeds

Cons: It is an SMR drive, so it isn't what you want for a raid setup or any use where you are constantly deleting files.

Overall Review: I bought the Seagate BarraCuda ST8000DM004 8TB 5400 RPM drive for data archiving. I use it as an external drive in a USB 3.0 connected docking station that I can switch on and off as needed. I leave it turned off when I am not writing to it so my system images and files will never be lost in the case of a catastrophic malware incident. I was quite surprised by the read and write speeds. 250 mb/s read and write with Crystal Disk Mark. When transferring large volume folders from my PC, with varying sized files, it maintained 170 to 190 mb/s transfer speeds. When transferring large volumes of photo and video files it holds at right about 200-210mb/s. I have a high end AMD X570 system, so your speeds may vary depending on your systems ability to seek and deliver data to the USB 3.0 bus. What really impressed me was the write speed when making system image backups while booting from Macrium Reflect on a USB stick. I was seeing 400 mb/s write speeds on the meter on the GUI and the time it took to make and verify a very large image tended to make me think that it was real. My experience when opening and reading the files that I transferred to the Seagate BarraCuda ST8000DM004 8TB drive was positive. I felt that the response was very snappy. So for what my purposes were, I was quite impressed. I won't speak to longevity as I will not put many hours on the drive so that doesn't concern me. If you want to write and delete files regularly to this drive it will probably suffer in speed as the overlapping Shingled Magnetic Recording technology that this drive uses will create issues in performance. Google it.

Great solution when you need extra USB 2.0 pin headders

Enlabs INU29P1X4 Motherboard USB 2.0 9pin Header 1 to 4 Extension Hub Splitter Adapter - Converter MB USB 2.0 Male to 2 Male - 30CM USB 9-pin Internal Cable
Enlabs INU29P1X4 Motherboard USB 2.0 9pin Header 1 to 4 Extension Hub Splitter Adapter - Converter MB USB 2.0 Male to 2 Male - 30CM USB 9-pin Internal Cable

Pros: Easy to use . The small boards come with an adhesive strip. Just stick them on the inside of the case somewhere. It comes as two individual connector/splitter on one PCB board. You can snap off one set if you only need one extra USB connector. If it seems to stiff to snap off, just score it with a razor knife.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Good solution when your board doesn't have enough USB 2.0 pin headers.

Faster than the original Sabrent PCIe 4.0 M.2

SABRENT 1TB Rocket NVMe 4.0 Gen4 PCIe M.2 Internal SSD Extreme Performance Solid State Drive (SB-ROCKET-NVMe4-1TB)
SABRENT 1TB Rocket NVMe 4.0 Gen4 PCIe M.2 Internal SSD Extreme Performance Solid State Drive (SB-ROCKET-NVMe4-1TB)

Pros: Fast

Cons: None

Overall Review: I own the original Sabrent PCIe 4.0 M.2 which benched at 5000 read and 4500 write. This Sabrent benches at 6600 read and 5200 Write. So if you are using it for installing slow loading games on it or using it as a working drive to load files from and save them in Photoshop or similar software, it should load games faster, I know that DCS World Flight sim loads faster for me and my work flow in photoshop is better as it takes much less time to load and save files to this drive. I then I can just move them unattended to a storage drive. We can argue the value of the small increase in speed over NVMe 3.0 drives and in most instances it won't make a huge difference, but if that little bit is important to you, this drive will deliver.

Good no frills 280mm AIO

be quiet! PURE LOOP 280mm AIO CPU Water Cooler | All In One Water Cooling System | Intel and AMD Support | Low Noise | BW007

Pros: Pump separate from the heatsink

Cons: No RGB if you require it.

Overall Review: Easy Install. No RGB. No Pump speed control. Pump runs at a set speed and is quiet quiet. No vibration because it is suspended with the hose. The 140mm fans run up to 1500 RPM and connects to the PWM CPU fan header. If you don't like RGB fans and need a 280mm AIO, this should fit the bill.

Economical USB 3.0 SATA Dock

Pros: Easy to use. Small footprint. Two USB 3.0 Type-A plugs(use it as a hub) Easy push button on-0ff switch

Cons: Hub is not powered if the dock is turned off.

Overall Review: I needed a dock for my 8 TB drive that I use to store my System Images and archive my data to. The dock accepts 3.5 or 2.5 inch SATA drives. Just drop them in. It comes with short USB type-A to USB type-B cord. The USB 3.0 input is a Type-B incase you need to have a cord that allows you to place it more than 3 feet away. It has two USB 3.0 Type-A plugs so you can use it as a hub if you are short of USB ports. The only problem is that the hub ports are only active if the dock is turned on. So if you want to turn it off when you have finished writing or reading from it, which is what I do to insure that my backed up data can't be compromised if I am hit by a ransomware attack, the hub ports will not work. I did not try the One Touch Backup feature. It does have both an SD and Micro SD slot. It only accepts one SATA drive at the same time, so you can't use it as a RAID device. It does what it should. For the price, I can't knock it for the hub not being active when it is turned off as that would require the circuits to be separated and then it would cost more, and you can just pull the SATA drive out if you need the hub and want to use it as I do. So if that issue isn't a problem for you, then it deserves the 5 Eggs.

HDMI splitter would pass a 4K signal as advertised, but seller corrected the problem

I purchased an HDMI splitter from TELeasy and it would not transfer 4K as advertised. May have been just a fluke issue. TELeasy issued a refund and sent an RMA after I talked to them. Shipping was fast and it was packaged perfectly. Although my experience was not as I wanted, I see no evidence that they are not a trustworthy seller.
