Pros: 4 Cores, Unlocked Multipliers, 3.0mhz speed. Whatelse could you wish for?

Cons: Power hungry and hot. This processor takes a lot of power and runs warm. Make sure you have good ventilation and cooling on your rig. My P6N Diamond handles it well, but you will have to up the north and south bridge voltages to get it to run at stock speed.

Overall Review: I love this processor! I currently have it set at 3.67 with just a quick change of the multiplier. Runs incredibly stable, though to do it, I have to almost max my north and south bridge voltages. I should have waited for the new 770i boards, they support the yorkfield processors...oh well,I still love it!

Lack of speaker on the board.

Overall Review: This is review is for the Rampage V Edition 10. It's been a long time since I left Asus. I had a horrible experience with the 1st gen RoG boards and swore I'd never go back. Yet, here I am. For the price I expected perfection. While I'm not unhappy with the board I do feel less than bliss. RoG has come a long way. My first RoG board was a nightmare. It just wouldn't post no matter what I tried -- even the hairdryer trick failed. I went to EVGA and was very happy with the x79 dark. I even initially went with the x99 Classified and was ok with it. But after a failure where I couldn't decide if it was the processor or MB I went and changed it out the MB to this since it had more options that I needed. The Pros: -Tons of fan headers and an expansion card to add even more. It handles all my fans without the header. -2 USB 3.0 headers, I can now run my USB 3.0 multi-unit and front panel connectors. -IO shroud was pre-installed. Made installing the board to the case much easier. -The LED lights are stunning. Love it, but wish I could see them since the window is on the wrong side for how I have to sit my box. -The BIOS is incredible. Tons of features, but see cons. Love the ability to download BIOS over the internet directly in BIOS. -Built in WiFi. I haven't had this since my last Asus workhorse in the mid 00's. -Supports up to 128 gig of memory but see cons. -Amplified front headphone - but see cons. I still love it. -2 gig lan ports. Awesome -Front Panel LED/Switch header. Cons -The Bios is overly complicated. I love that it has all the features, but it can take some digging to find basic info like is a card running at gen 3 16x or not. And it's not terribly clear if you are going to factory defaults or not. -The manual is not terribly clear. This happened when I went to setup the amp headphone unit. It's listed as RoG expansion and one would assume to use the RoG header, but no, you need to use a USB 2.0 header. -.25 eggs -Not enough USB 2.0 headers. With the HP unit, you have only one USB 2.0 Header available, which if using a Corsair H115 unit you'd have none for front panel. Easily solved with an expansion card. -.25 eggs -No speaker on the board. Come on, for 500$ they could have included a 1$ part. -Like many others, my USB driver stick was blank. -.5 eggs -It does support 128 gig, my G.Skill set can not use XmP 2 profile. -My biggest issue is the design decisions. PCI 1 is way too close to the memory and cpu. That placement caused me to damage the PCI lock when I tried to install my card and it wasn't lined up correctly. Minus 1 egg. -Software and drivers are not updated often enough. Asus is horrible with maintaining existing and legacy products. Nothing new there. Summary For 500$, I expected perfection. But I just can't give this even 4 eggs. I love all the features, but the PCI placement and cheap parts in some instances create unnecessarily difficulty and even damage in installing and using the board. I appreciate all the features in the BIOs but it could be easier to find what you are looking for. This pales in comparison to EVGA's bios. The little things like a USB Driver stick actually containing the drivers and a speaker on the motherboard are expected at this price point, but were lacking. If you are going all out with a 6950X cpu then by all means go with this board. It has all the ports and features you could wish for but at an extreme cost. I can't give bonus eggs to this board simply because it actually works and is stable compared to the last RoG board that I owned. After 4 or 5 generations this should be expected and shows how low my expectations of Asus were. Even so, this board should have been a 5 for the cost. I don't regret this purchase. I don't think this board is worth the price paid. With it's great features it is marred by it's limited USB 2 headers. But more importantly, it's hurt by poor design choices by placing PCI 1 so close to the CPU. It's difficult to align large PCI cards to prevent damage to cheaply made PCI Slot locks. If you are going all the way with a 6950X, than hit buy. A lesser CPU look elsewhere.

Pros: Great upgrade from 4TB to 12TB in my NAS based on cost.

Cons: Noisy....I didn't really notice the spin up and down of disks on my QNap NAS that sits right next to me when I had older 4T drives. Advertised space is much less. My old 4T drives had about 3.8T useable space. The new 12T drives only have about 10.4T or so.

Overall Review: In 2016, I bought a 6Bay Qnap NAS server that had Seagate 4T drives already installed. I set it up as a Raid 10 and it has served me very well since. However, I got a bit concerned over the drives age and that I was now at 60% utilization. I knew I would have to expand the raid. I've been thinking about upgrading the disks for some time and really looked into what size I wanted to do. I settled on the 12T flavor, which seemed to be the sweet spot on cost. 6TB drives were more expensive then the 14TB. And while the cost per TB did increase with size, it really got obscene over 12TB. So 12TB was the number. And that increased my raid 3 fold. Newegg did an eggcellent job at shipping as usual. All drives were wrapped in individual bubble wrap and in their own boxes. All 6 arrived in one large box with bubble wrap. No drive was damaged and they all installed flawlessly. I can't say anything about quality yet. These drives survived 6 rebuild of the array and are currently doing a resync to increase the volume size. Nothing has failed yet, and I've received no warnings about failure. What I can say is these new 12T drives are noisy! My NAS sits right next to me, and I can hear the heads moving. It's not obscene, but is noticeable. Also Seagate is misleading on the drive size. My NAS reported that the useable space on my 4T drives was around 3.8T. But these new 12T drives are only around 10.9T! This is really why I knocked off an egg. In my situation, the 12T drives provided the best bang for my buck, they are expensive, and I couldn't afford to get the largest drives. But I am more than happy with expanding my raid by 3 fold for what it cost to do this.

Pros: built in VRM fans and Heatsink. New Asus Armoury Crate -- the most up to date drivers. Total of 4 m.2 drive support Better overclocking support Beautiful design, this is an incredibly sexy motherboard. From it's overall esthetics to the led 's.... it's just sexy.

Cons: Price....over 700$?!?! I keep swearing that I will never spend so much on a motherboard, yet here I am. Driver installation...if you don't do the armoury crate immediately, be prepared for an broadband speed like it's 1990. Price...again, over 700$

Overall Review: I really love the new Armoury Crate application. If you have the option enabled in the BIOS, it will prompt you to launch the app on new Window's 10 installs. The crate app will automatically download and install all relevant updates. And, you can select drivers, supporting software, and bios. It's pretty awesome. I also really love the additional M.2 slot upgrade from the Rampage VI Extreme. This version also includes heatstrips for the two on-board M.2 drives. Really nice. And I also really love the new heat sink for the M.2 expansion slot. Fan headers are robust. On this board I was actually able to set my 4200 g.skill memory to XMP and the board would boot and be stable, What I don't like is the price. This is a minimal upgrade from the Rampage VI Extreme. You must be really alert when installing drivers. You must have your computer connected to your lan to start the Crate installation. But, at the same time, MicorSoft is downloading drivers. You really need to stay on top of the official drivers from Asus. Otherwise, you will end up with internet speeds reminiscent to the dial up days...I'm talking about in the k's...and yes, I got the logs to prove it. In summary, there are several features that warrant an upgrade from the VI extreme to this edition. The additional on-board M.2 slot, the new heat sink for the 2 M.2 drives, the VRM Fan, the slightly updated UFIE bios, are worth considering an upgrade. However, I need to knock off some eggs for how much you have to micromanage the driver installation that impacts your internet speed. If you are building a totally new x299 system defanitly go with the Omega. Otherwise save yourself a lot of money and go with the Extreme unless you really need the 4 M.2 drives. Base - 5.-0 M.2 Drive +.5 Cost -1.0 Bios +.5 Driver Issues - 1.0 Total 4 Eggs

Overall Review: Upgraded from the 4930K. From Aida, I'm on par with, if not beating low-end Xeons! Windows 10 is much more snappier. And it's helping my NVidia 1070 graphic card a good bit. Air cooling this beast and I was able to meet my overclock of 4.2 on my 4930K. But the temps and voltage were a bit higher then I'd like. I have since dropped it down to 4.0. Please remember, the 6950 is clocked lower than the 4930. While most games don't use more than 4 cores, the games I have seem to like my new setup. If you have the money to burn, or you need to be the first kid on the block with this toy....I say go for it.

Pros: x99 chipset supporting the latest cpu's. SoundBlaster Recon 3DI built in. 10 SATAIII ports 8 DDR3 slots to support up to 128G of ram! Huge improvement in the BIOS over the X79 Classified. Overclocks well.

Cons: CPU Package is too close to PCI slot one. This causes issues with air cooling and a video card in slot 1. Not enough USB2.0 headers on the board.

Overall Review: My expectations for this board were pretty high coming from the X79 Classified. This board met and exceeded those expectations. It overclocks like a champ. Took my 6970K to 4.2 with little fuss. I have a SoundBlaster ZXR2 installed, but the onboard Recon 3DI chip puts out just as good sound, at least over headphones using front connector. The BIOS is much improved. Memory compatibility is a bit of an issue -- that seems to be a problem with most EVGA board. The set I originally bought worked with the more recent board for the chipset but not officially with this board. Luckily I was able to do a quick swap through Newegg. The only really negative thing I can say is the memory and cpu socket is placed too close to the first PCI Slot. If you are doing liquid, it's not an issue. But if you are doing air, forget it. Any decent air setup with push the fans and or rads over the PCI slot. But since I only run 1 video card, it's not an issue.
