Update of previous review12/31/2013 6:55:47 PM

Pros: Appears to function after tech support session. Once they saw my previous review on NewEgg, Sans Digital was eager to help me get the device working. Worked under USB 3.0. Device does not appear if connected to USB 2.0 (which is probably appropriate given the size of the device.)

Cons: Documentation is mediocre at best. While the device appears to work under Linux, the support software is Windows only. Not all setup functions can be performed from the support software. The setup procedure is byzantine. It was not clear how to get a response from tech support (but once I got in touch with them, they were helpful). I was unable to get the esata interface to work, but I have no way to tell whether the esata hardware on the computer side is working.

Overall Review: This particular device is not currently stocked by NewEgg. Perhaps the newer offerings are easier to set up.

Doesn't work11/13/2013 7:18:55 PM

Pros: None as far as I can tell.

Cons: Poorly documented and expensive, but at least it doesn't work.

Overall Review: Unit powers up... then turns off; power light orange. No explanation, no documentation that would give a clue as to what's going on. The only way to try again is to unplug it; none of the buttons have any effect. Doesn't matter how many or what sort of drives are in it. Haven't been able to make it work in any way, shape, or form. Should have bought beer with the money instead.

Manufacturer Response:
Thank you for purchasing Sans Digital products. Have you connected the unit to your computer with either USB or eSATA cable? The unit has an auto off feature that it will turn itself off when it detects no connectivities to the computer in order to save energy and life of drives. This is also mentioned in the quick start guide of the unit as well. However, if you have already done so but the problem is still exist, then I suggest you to contact our tech support for help. If you have problem on the unit, please contact us by calling 1-800-980-1988 for technical support and our engineer will try to resolve it over the phone. You can also contact us at tech@sansdigital.com for email support.
