A huge monitor at a great price

37" 1080p LCD HD Monitor
37" 1080p LCD HD Monitor

Pros: (+) 1920x1080 resolution for a low price (+) Very crisp image - text, images and video are all very crisp. (+) Tons of inputs, including DVI & VGA, allowing you to use it as a TV, computer monitor, gaming monitor, etc. (+) Let me reiterate this: this thing makes an incredible computer monitor. It's freakin huge! (+/-) Backlight is almost blindly bright, but you can easily turn it down to acceptable levels (+) Mine had no dead pixels (+/-) Looks reasonably good at all viewing angles

Cons: (-) Black levels are nothing special. They get the job done - and are solid for this price range - but more expensive sets do a much better job (-) Probably in part due to the weaker black levels, the colors on this screen don't seem as rich as other (more expensive) screens. They just lack the depth and pop of high end sets. (-) No tuners of any kind. That means you can't directly hook up your cable to it, but need something in between to process the signal, such as a cable box, DVD player, computer, etc.

Overall Review: I use this screen as my computer monitor (hooked up via DVI), which means I've tried it with: * Word processing * Web browsing * 3D gaming (Call of Duty 4, Hitman: Blood Money, Medieval II: Total War) * Movies (DivX, DVDs, HD content) * Photo editing * Programming Simply put, this monitor is an awesome value. There are 1080p displays out there that are bigger, that produce deeper blacks and richer colors, but there is nothing that even comes close at this price range. Movies and gaming are an awesome experience and text is so sharp that reading/writing on this screen are a pleasure. In fact, the text size ends up a bit larger, so you have less eye strain. The trade off, however, is that the darks and colors produced by this screen are not top of the line. Compared to my Sony FW900, the LVM-37w3se just can't produce the same richness and depth in images. However, the brightness of the screen, sheer size and sharpness of the Westinghouse are more than enough to make up for

Surprisingly quiet

Seagate BarraCuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive (Perpendicular Recording Technology) Bare Drive

Pros: Shockingly quiet, once you get Windows installed it's very zippy, easy to install.

Cons: Perhaps due to a lack of proper SATA drivers on the winXP cd, formatting this HD took a loooooooong time.

Overall Review: When I first installed this drive, what surprised me most was the noise: or rather, the lack of it. I don't have the quietest computer, but even with all fans on the lowest setting, you can barely hear this thing make a peep. Windows boots pretty quick, file transfers are speedy and overall it's a great bang-for-the-buck drive.

So far so good

OCZ Speed 150X 2GB Secure Digital (SD) Flash Card Model OCZSD150-2GB

Pros: Cheap (after rebate), fast, tiny, works out of the box w/o a problem.

Cons: Nothing so far.

Overall Review: I'm using it in my Canon Powershot SD800 IS and I have no complaints - the card is zippy and has tons of storage.

Great CPU at a great price from a great retailer

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ - Athlon 64 X2 Manchester Dual-Core 2.0 GHz Socket 939 Processor - ADA3800BVBOX
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ - Athlon 64 X2 Manchester Dual-Core 2.0 GHz Socket 939 Processor - ADA3800BVBOX

Pros: Very cheap, easy to install, overclocks well, runs cool, two cores... The perfect upgrade for those with a socket 939 board.

Cons: Since RAM, hard drive and video card are still shared, this isn't quite like having two separate computers for multitasking. But it's pretty darn close.

Overall Review: If you have a s939 mobo with a single core CPU, there's no reason to dish out $xxx to pick up this puppy. You can easily over clock it from 2.0Ghz to 2.6Ghz on air and your system responsiveness will be way better. Moreover, newegg's shipping is amazing: not only was it free, but I got my CPU the next day!
